  This ryokan reallllly goes above and beyond. Hospitality from staff is so so great. So many extra special touches from having events in the building such as, hosting a tea ceremony, traditional concert, japanese breakfast, and thank you gift. Extremely extremely clean. I think it is actually the cleanest hotel I have ever been in, and I've traveled a lot including plenty of 5 star hotels. It's impeccable. Rooms are super cute and traditional. Good location about a 5 minute walk from some of the major markets and about a 10 min walk to Gion. The only thing to note is that the building itself, although an authentic experience, it is more of a converted authentic vibe. I don't think this is an original ryokan, it seemed to be a building turned into one, so if looking for that, this might not be your place. And I had thought a Kaiseki dinner was an option, but it is not. But aside from that fabulous experience.

  Wonderful Ryokan Experience! Charming hosts who are extremely helpful and make you feel very much at home. The house is beautifully decorated with a landscaped interior courtyard-garden.The rooms are not huge but very functional and cozy with a lovely Japanese design. There is an in-house Onsen and they organize small events like concerts and tea ceremonies. The Japanese breakfast is definitely worth a try. The neighborhood is quiet but with many good dining options and the busier restaurant and bar area is in walking distance.

  Excellent Service, Questionable Value. My stay at this hotel showcased an outstanding level of service and attention to detail, from the delightful breakfasts to the thoughtful touches like free tea ceremonies and small gifts. The hotel's cleanliness was beyond reproach. However, the price tag of $750 per night for a 3-star hotel did not match the overall experience. While amenities like the basement bath were nice, they didn't feature real hot spring water and felt quite basic for the cost. At a more reasonable rate of $120 a night, I'd gladly award five stars, but the high price significantly detracts from the value, making it hard to recommend at its current rate despite the hotel's many charms.

  Me and my gf stayed here in February on our trip to Kyoto. Beautiful ryokan with warm friendly staff , beautiful breakfast and lovely room. This was our first ryokan experience and we loved it. ! Highly recommended !

  Great atmosphere and facilities. Everyone that works there is so genuinely nice, we really felt like part of their family. The breakfast is A+ and highly recommend the tea ceremony as well. The public bath is also immaculately clean and so relaxing to use. Thanks for a memorable stay, will definitely be back.
