The room was clean. However, the bath and toilet are shared. Especially when I get the impression that I can barely fit on the bus alone. Since this is a guesthouse, we are responsible for raising and lowering the futons ourselves. All the meals were delicious. The view of Lake Chuzenji and Mt. Nantai from the guest room window is spectacular.

An incredible, unique experience at Miharashi. Some of the most welcoming hosts I’ve ever stayed with. Amazing views of the lake from my room, very comfortable futon and great food, both for dinner and breakfast. Can’t wait to come back to Chuzenji Lake and stay here again!

    - Nice view with good dinner - I stayed here when I traveled to Japan on my own in January 2015. It was really cold in Nikko and not many tourists around. There was no other guests staying at this hotel at that time other than me. Room: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Bath: 3 stars Location: 3 stars Dinner: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 Room: The 6 is 6 tatami and very spacious for one person. You can see the lake directly from the window as well. There are 3 rooms in this building on the 2nd floor, and you can see the lake from two rooms. There's a small TV in there as well, so you can watch TV. I watched doraemon at night when I couldn't fall asleep that night.. Service: I speak VERY little Japanese, but the hostess was very nice to me. They were drinking tea in the other building when I came, then she took me to the building (別館), which is for guests. When I got there, the gas heater was on and so was the kotatsu. The hostess boiled hot water for me and put it in a thermo water bottle for me, so I can make hot green tea to warm myself up. You have to make your bed yourself, but it's not hard. They store the comforters in the closet, so you can find it there. They also provided pillow case, towel, tooth brush, and a plain yukata. I actually travel with my own shampoo and stuff, so I didn't use them. There's a phone in the room, and it starts dialing as soon as you pick it up. I used it to ask the hostess for hot water the next morning. I think they usually don't provide, but she did it for me anyways. As I said, we cannot understand each other very well, but she tried to accommodate me well. Location: The B&B is actually next to Lake Chuzenji, so it's like in the middle between Nikko and Nikko yumoto hot spring area. With an all Nikko pass, it doesn't really matter where you stay. However, if you didn't get the pass but wants to see the waterfalls around, then it's a good idea to relax in the middle point for a night and then continue going to the other tourist spots on the 2nd day. This B&B is like 5-10 min walk from Chuzenji shrine, and if you want to visit the shrine from Nikko, you will see the B&B on the way there. Bath: There're separate bathroom for male and female, so it's not like a family style bathroom. There two sinks and shared by male and female. The bathtub isn't large, but it's big enough for one person to have a nice and hot bath. It did get really hot, so you can open the window in the bathroom if you want some fresh air. Notice that there's like mountain behind, so nobody can peak(I THINK AT LEAST, but check just in case). Dinner: Dinner was served at 6pm that night, but I think you can ask her if you want to eat a bit later. The dining area is at the first floor, and there's a kitchen next to it. I think the hostess actually has a cook permit, so she cooks really well! I love my dinner that night! Price: I paid 7350 yen for my stay which includes one dinner. It's nice since there's literately no restaurant opening at night in that area. Maybe it's different in the summer, but places don't open in winter. I think the price is alright. Overall: I'd stay here again because the dinner was yummy and she was nice to me. Oh btw, there's wifi in the dinner room, and you can get SOME wifi in your room. It's very limited, so don't get surprised if your wifi is like on and off ..
