::Great for bikepacking. One of my favourite places I’ve stayed whilst travelling round Japan. Yugi is the best. He is really relaxed but he cares about his guests and bends over backwards to help them and make their stay comfortable. He offers free runs into town to restaurants, the grocery store or train station. It was set up by his grandmother and you can really feel you’re in a family run establishment, with homemade touches. Some people have complained saying it needs modernising and that it has insects in it but it’s a traditional Japanese inn in the countryside if you want modern go to a capsule hotel in Shinjuku.

::The owner is very kind, always available and he gives a lot of good advices for visiting Nikko ! The house is very comfortable, warm even in winter. The rooms are quite big and very comfortable as well. The shared space (lobby/dining room) is well equipped. The bathroom is for common use but very spacious, there's one toilet per floor (the house is on 2 floors). We can reach the Nikko Tobu Station and the Nikko JR Station in 10-15min by foot. Finally, the view from the rooms on the landscape is just amazing !

::The place is pretty far from the station, around 15-20 minutes walk, but Yuji (owner) will offer to pick you up and also send you off on the last day using his car. The room is clean and pretty spacious. There are snacks with affordable prices but it's better to stock up on supplies from convenience stores near station. before heading back. There is also a tour to local onsen every evening for a minimum fee.

::Yuji was a great host. We called as soon as we arrived at the train station and he was here to pick us up in 5 minutes. At 8pm, there's a free shuttle to the onsen and a shuttle back at 9:15pm. Plenty of time to relax and even take a beer after the onsen.

::I Stayed here together with friends for only one night. The owner of the place was not there at that moment because of some family reasons. We did not feel less welcome though. He left a note with his estimated time he would be back and to make ourselves at home. After we installed ourselves we went into town to see the shrines and temples of Nikko. When we got back, the owner gave us a tour of the Lodge. In the evening we had drinks with the owner as well, and he shared some stories about the area and gave tips for the continuation of our journey as well. The next morning he took the time to drop us off at the train station so that we didn't have to walk all the way to the centre of the city. I would recommend the Narusawa Lodge to everyone, especially for the friendly owner and good service we got here!
