::The chestnut daifuku and dorayaki are both delicious. Daifuku is so soft that the mochi part melts in your mouth. The bean paste is also smooth and sweet, which I like. Although the dorayaki is small, it has a beautiful three-dimensional shape. It is also good as a gift.

::Recommended shops for souvenirs in Kakunodate There is a store near Samurai Residence Street Kurazukuri-style store The shop's specialty is raw bean paste sorghum that can only be eaten here. This is also recommended as a souvenir! Zenbei Chestnut Chestnut Daifuku looked very delicious so I bought this! Daifuku is made by kneading Zenbei minced meat into the dough and wrapping it in strained bean paste. Among the Saimyoji chestnuts produced in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture, Zenbei chestnuts are an excellent variety produced by Akakuraen, which uses a cultivation method that does not use any chemical fertilizers, and spares no time and effort in cultivation management, such as harvesting after ripening, and processing and shipping in warm water. Daifuku made with the finest chestnuts is exquisite! We also recommend the daifuku that has a large Bei chestnut inside! This is the best daifuku that costs more than 1000 yen each. There is also a ``sweet tea shop'' adjacent to the souvenir shop, so it is recommended for those who want to eat something sweet during a break or while sightseeing in Kakunodate!

::Stumbled on to this cafe during a rainy day and it has so much sweets to offer. Ordered the Sakura set which included coffee and a Sakura mont blanc and I was amazed by the layers in the cake! It was truly delicious and not overly sweet.

::Ordered for takeaway as they were about to close at 5pm. Not bad daifuku (¥350 / ¥800) but would prefer the cream sandwiches (or as they call it "cream cakes") ¥1,000 for 5 pieces. Refrigerating the cream sandwiches before eating makes it tastier!
