Second time staying here for us! The room is a nice size with a great view of the Hakone mountains including the huge 大 kanji. The building is quite old and is showing its age a bit but everything is well maintained. The service is great, all the staff are friendly and from a variety of different nationalities. The hotel also states that they are a LGBTQ ally. Dinner and breakfast are traditional Japanese fare, with seafood, sashimi, vegetables and steak. Kids are also catered for. It is quite hard to get to, though- if you come on the train you have to get the funicular from Gora which shuts down in the early evening. However, the hotel does offer a pickup service from Gora station, and it is also walkable from there too, though it’s quite a hill. We’ll definitely be back next time!

A bit of a hike, but OK once you figure out the cable car access. The Onsen is nothing special. The work staff are mainly not Japanese, and when we were there most of the clientele were foreigners. The food was what you might expect at this price point. So unfortunately a true Japanese experience, not so much. But good if you’re not acclimatized.

Although it is a bit old, you can truly enjoy the Japanese ryokan atmosphere here. Strongly recommend for those looking for real Japanese care and culture

Very decent family business, great hospitably, warm service, very Japanese This is my returning visit of the hotel. Comparing to last visit, more English staff available, hospitality is still as warm as usual. Try stay longer, more delicious menu may come on the second day of your stay.

This was a truly lovely spot. The food was good, the rooms endearing, the staff both kind and accommodating and the establishment was lush with relaxing offerings. While the hot spring baths run 24 hours, I would recommend arriving on time for your reservation so as to enjoy as long as possible.
