::The hotel is located at the top of the mountain.great views strongly suggest to see the sun set and sunrise here . It also has a hot spring in the rooms too. However, the room feels dusty. The furniture and decorations are out of date.

::Our second visit here....after 10 years. And it shows. The hotel is now in dire need of an update as the outer wall paint peels, and observation deck is covered due to repairs. The room didn't fair any better...dead bugs on the window sill, spider and cobwebs in our onsen area, and stains on the walls all harkened back to it's glory days decades before. Staying here was like going to Hogwarts. Charming, but this'll be the last time.

::Absolutely beautiful location. The aquarium and a small store with vending machines are within a 5-10 minute walk, and the hotel offers a free hourly shuttle service into Otaru. Some staff had limited English but it didn't cause any issues and they were very keen to help. The room was gorgeous, although of an older style. Bed was extremely comfortable and had a radio built in that played music from the ceiling! Very retro and cool. We paid for breakfast included and the menu was very fancy and delicious (although it is very meat and fish heavy, if you are vego or vegan you might struggle - not sure if they cater for this as we didn't ask). The in room onsen was fantastic. It did get a bit hot and steamy but our room had multiple windows you could open. Really great quality for the price we paid. Would definitely visit again. A great romantic getaway.

::I really enjoyed this hotel. As other reviews have noted, it is old and somewhat kitsch, but for me that was the charm. The rooms are very spacious, the beds comfortable, and the food delicious. I wouldn't want to stay here without a car though. The only serious problem is the shower. For some bizarre reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to use a public onsen timed tap as a shower tap. So you get about 10-15 seconds of water from the shower after pressing the on button, then it stops, and you need bend down to the tap at your ankles and press it again to get another 10 seconds of water.

::Nice rooms that are well maintained. The private open air bath is lovely and was really nice. A wonderful restaurant with excellent food is key due to the remote location; you either need a car or taxi to get somewhere.
