  Stayed here for one night and had the most wonderful experience. We were greeted at the door and they held all of our bags while we explored the city. They even have a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up around the town. The included dinner was phenomenal and consisted of 10 different courses. They also have wine, beer and sake that you can purchase. The breakfast the next morning was also delicious. The views from the room were amazing and the private bath on the back patio was perfect.

  This place was a highlight in a trip of highlights. The staff were exceptional and we were made to feel welcome immediately. The hotel itself is modern yet understated. The meals were experiences in themselves. It would be worth trying Hanaougi if you are looking for a break from the intensity of Tokyo and want to indulge in a top class ryokan experience.

  Was truly a magical experience. The rooms were stunning-the beds were comfy, spotless, private and romantic. The food was delicious, well designed and connected you to Japanese culture. The service is really what exceeded everything (which is crazy because everything was already perfect!!). From greeting us at the door every day to giving us suggestions for day time activities. Everyone was attentive and professional. Minam was our host for each meal and seriously give her a raise or a medal! She was so sweet, so knowledgeable, so respectful and her kind heart made our experience the best of our entire honeymoon. Thank you for making our experience one to remember.

  Incredible ryokan experience; the pictures simply don’t do it justice. This is a more intimate hotel compared to other larger ones in the area, and that makes for impeccable personal service. The personal onsen and public baths are both extremely soothing and cozy. The provided dinner and breakfast are very high quality but also provided in a large quantity. Makes for a perfect 1-2 night stay if traveling between Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto as it is a nice break from the hustle and bustle. Pretty easy to get to by bus from Odawara station. Overall it’s a very reasonable price for what you get. Cannot recommend this place enough.

  I can't put into words the level and quality of service provided by every single member of this incredible Ryokan! Greeting, incredible. Room, incredible. Dinner experience, incredible. In room massage, incredible. Breakfast, incredible. Staff, incredible. The staff made it feel as if we were the only guests in the hotel, every single one top to bottom. I felt sad to leave Miss Suzuki, who was our host, it was that level of service which felt almost like a friend welcoming you into HER home. All of this is even more true if you are a foreign tourist. This entire experience is unavailable to us in America. Nothing I have ever experienced has even come close to this. A distant second is a weekend at the Hermitage in Monte Carlo which cost more money over 20 years ago than this did today! If you can, go immediately. If you’re not blown away you should probably readjust your values in travel.
