The hotel is in a very nice and quiet area. The view was magnificent. The equipment of our room was perfectly fine for us, but it was pretty smoky when we arrived.

WORST I have experienced in Japan. Just AVOID ART HOTEL AND MYSTAYS group of hotels in general. Made me really REGRET choosing this overall old dilapidated hotel which used to be a Best Western. I even booked their MOST EXPENSIVE RENOVATED SUPERIOR SAKURAJIMA VIEW TRIPLE ROOM. Breakfast coupon states that the ADMISSION TIME is 6.30 to 9.30am. We were there at 9.15am but everything at the restaurant was cleared out even before that. Spoke with the rude front desk staff YOICHI but all he had was a "SORRY, BUT NOT SORRY" attitude. You should have seen his face. It was only then that we were impolitely told that the last admission is 9am, but which was never mentioned at check-in. Flat out "NO" to a refund. The RESTAURANT MANAGER could not even offer us a coffee! Told YOICHI beforehand I was going to post this NEGATIVE review and he replied a firm "GO AHEAD". But when I asked for his name which will be included, his expression then became that of a dog with its tail between its legs. Shows how much personal responsibility the staff take when they go about their work at their hotel. These guys SHOULD BE FIRED. Would have gone with MARINE PALACE down the road if they weren't renovating at the moment. Or just forget the Sakurajima view and just go with DAIWA ROYNET in downtown Tenmonkan which has proven themselves with exceptional Japanese customer service.

Everything is fine but poor service~ the breakfast restraunt manager is so rude I have ever seen. I am angry about his attitude. No words just actions , when we said please clean the table later because my son has not finished, he still cleared it directly. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the service , so it looks like true. Not recommended. I think this is the worst hotel I have ever reserved in Japan.

By far the worst hotel experience in Japan. Should have read the reviews here instead of relying on the Japanese booking site Jaxxn ones which no negative reviews were published. The only good point is the view overlooking Sakurashima. Other than that, this hotel is beyond disappointment. First, this hotel is so dated, both the public area and inside guest room are full of stain and dust, lights were dim along the corridor and inside guest room, completely different to what they advertised. Room was so hot and the temperature couldn’t be adjusted due to it being central air conditioning, so we didn’t rest well during our stay. We had to keep our windows open throughout our stay but still didn’t help much. Breakfast was another disappointment. Website advertised breakfast time is up to 10am at the newly renovated restaurant overlooking Sakurashima with attractive food options. Reality is breakfast is served till 9:30 at a hall that has no window, no view, and when you get down at 8:30am, the venue was already full so we were told to write our name down and wait. Average wait time was about 10 minutes so the reception area was pretty crowded with waiting patrons. The staff at the food hall reception was quite rude and treat foreigners differently. They gave a sign of “we are still eating” to all Japanese and explained to them how to use (which is a common practice in a Japanese hotel) but did not even bother talking to any foreigners. Food was nothing like those in the photos, below average and not much varieties. Parking is 1000 yen per night and is across the road. There are cheaper rates around the area with similar distance/ location. Lastly, we found the room rate gets much cheaper closer to the date but we can’t change your booking due to their cancellation policy. Overall, apart from the view, we are beyond disappointment at everything this hotel claimed they offered, and find the reality has a huge gap to its photos, and at a much lower quality than any other similar or cheaper price hotels around the area, and in Japan in general.

The hotel is alright to stay and has everything you need. Be aware that in September the pool/spa is shut (tattoos are strictly forbidden…) and there isn’t anything like a beach or lovely seafront. The bus takes approx. 25 minutes to the center. There is Lawson & 7-Eleven just across the street.
