::A great hotel with magnificent view of the Sakurajima volcano & Bay. Their services were top notch that other hotel chains might learn from. - Good breakfast buffet with nice ambience & presentation - Shops & restaurants are very much next door. - Free shuttle bus to JR chuo line. - Spacious, bright bedroom & bathrooms, nice comfortable beddings - Very nice, helpful & accommodating staff, probably the best we've come across in our travel. We will definitely return to this hotel when in Kagoshima

::I think the location’s great- we wake up to sunrise w Sakurajima. The waterfront is a short walk away. There are shops nearby (Uniqlo) and an affordable BBQ meat restaurant (Nabeshima) just across the street. Hoang, the Viet staff, who spoke English took very good care of us.

::Service is excellent. Special mention of a reception staff from Nepal. He went beyond to ensure a wonderful stay here. Value for money - breakfast yummy and onsen has view of Sakurajima as shown on website. If you enjoy good views then book a room facing the volcano. Do note room is quite dated and location is not near Tenmonkan (free shuttle bus every 50 mins)- a must visit when in Kagoshima. There’s a small sized mall next to the hotel. Would recommend if have a car.

::My family and I really enjoyed are stay here for approximately 10 days in August. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and courteous, particularly the French gentleman. If you have any issues, they are always more than happy to assist you. The breakfast buffet is varied and tasty, especially the omelette made by the chef behind the counter. The fruit selection is good and is a refreshing addition among all the fried food, noodles and rice. There are plenty of drink selections too. The dinner is also a buffet, however, which could be made better if ordered and especially prepared for guests. Perhaps this is arranged at another restaurant in the hotel as there are 3 I believe. The views from the hotel are exceptional and it is fantastically close to Sakurajima. A cab can take you to the ferry port in roughly 10 minutes. The rooms are all fitted with Mitsubishi air-conditioning, there are plenty of lamps and lights and they are spacious. The bathroom is a little dated, but it is enough. The TV is excellent and has English options which is pleasant. If I visit Kagoshima, I would stay here again. It would have been nice, however, if the hotel offered transport for the athletes competing at the world aquatics competition. The transport was only for judges, which was probably organised by the competition itself, but this was not particularly thoughtful though perhaps not at fault of the hotel. This is why I will not rate Sun Royal down. Thank you for your hospitality Sun Royal Hotel. I wish you all the best.

::It's a large and older hotel. It's in need of renovation as it is definitely looking pretty shabby. The breakfast and dinner included with my booking were buffet-style. The food was sort of average, but not bad. Overall, the service at the hotel was good and price was very reasonable. The double room had a small balcony and a great view of Sakuriyama. It's not very centrally located so do keep that in mind.
