::We forgot our valuables in our previous hotel safe and had to go through the reception at this hotel to call and retrieve our stuff via post. They were very patient and helpful considering the language barrier. They spent a long time on the phone communicating with numerous parties and translating the situation to us as it went on, all with an empathetic and respectful attitude towards us. We also met the owner and he was extremely helpful, even willing to be on the phone for a solid 15 minutes to obtain a tracking number that we requested for peace of mind. Best customer service I have ever encountered. Strongly recommend this hotel and am forever grateful!

::This is such good value and quality at the same time. Although the hotel is old since it was built in the 60s, the facilities have been renovated in 2014 and is now a designated shelter for earthquakes as it has been reinforced. The rooms are large and even as a solo traveller who stayed in the smallest room could have easily fit another 2 or 3 people. The onsen water is pumped directly from 800 metres below and is lovely. One of the best onsen I have tried in a hotel, albeit a bit small. The staff are very nice as well and received myself and other guests with exceptional service. Would stay again!

::Great hotel, non smoking, traditional tatami and futon options, opposite a park and 5 mins from a main street with restaurants and shopping. Onsen on ground floor is really hot and they put yuzu in the water. Staff are lovely and there’s some English. Wifi, yukatas for wearing in room and down to Onsen. It’s also near to the observation hill if you fancy a walk. The building has been earthquake proofed, hence the grid on the front, which is pretty cool

::A lovely place to stay and the hot spring on the first floor is very nice. Because the water comes from a spring 800 meters below the hotel, it is very hot! Somewhere around 50 degrees celsius. Because of the hot temperature, you might feel really drained after soaking for awhile, but it's a nice feeling before bed. The only downside if that there is only 1 bath in the center of the room, so you're bound to get cozy with other people very soon.

::They pumped onsen(hot spring) directly under 800m beneath the hotel. There are famous onsen places at nearby cities, but this is the one you could enjoy in the Kagoshima city district. Very realxing and all the staffs were super kind. One thing you should know: If you stay in tadami(Japanese style, no western style bed) room, someone comes to your room in early evening and prepare the blankets for you, espcially when you are out(they ask you to return the key to the office when you go out). Don't get freaked out if the door is wide open when you are back.
