  Absolutely loved our stay here. What a stunning place, like being transported back in time. So peaceful and beautiful with the backdrop of waterfalls and nature. The service was outstanding, the staff went out of their way to make the experience special. Our room (or house to be more precise) was incredible, dining room on the ground floor, enormous living room, our own private mineral onsen bath on the first floor right in front of the balcony looking out onto the river. Stunning! They also offered some fabulous amenities. After dinner they offer shochu by the outdoor fireplace. What an incredibly romantic setting, listening to the fire crackling. Highly recommend staying here. It’s also a Relais Chateau property.

  Recommend to stay 2 nights instead of just 1 night for the best experience!! The ambiance there is more `country' and `farm house' than high end or luxurious. So don't expect server wore kimono serving you : ) We stayed in `Keyaki' (24 m2) : the room is big and love attached onsen, which is filled with pure hot spring water (I can see the minerals) Service is excellent as the property has partnership with `Seven Star Kyushu'. The food and beverage was good and very fresh for the first night because the property uses all vegetables and chicken from their own farm. After the staff got more comfortable serving us, the second night was even more prefect!! They arrange sabu sabu TRIO (Kagoshima beef, pork and chicken) for us. This made our stay very unforgettable!

  Absolutely amazing! Impeccable service. We were greeted by all staff upon arrival and the meals were perfect. There are also a variety of hot springs (including private) as well as fun hidden snacks around the property.

  Return visit and stay after 5 years !! Good experience and saw improvements. Food is better and place is clean serene and quaint. Good service as well

  If you're looking for a more authentic and traditional Japanese experience, I highly recommend Gajoyen. The staff is warm and friendly, and they are always happy to help. There are two English speaking staffs but the other servers, despite not understanding much English, they will try their best to assist you. We stayed in a room with a private bath and didn't get a chance to try out the public one. The private bath is quite wonderful, you can use it anytime you want. I also recommend their toridon, which is their chicken and egg on rice. Gajoyen has their own chicken farm and the eggs are the best I've ever had. Overall, it's a great place to stay :)
