::Had a great stay! Food was amazing, with friendly service and lovely dining room. The rooms were very large and comfortable. Touring bus station 5 minute walk away and took it to great hiking sites. Overall, couldn't have been happier and looking forward to returning!

::Three parts to hotel & can be daunting until one finds their way around. Elevators to avoid stairs leads to unexpected places but staff are very understanding.

::We stayed for one night in a modern Japanese room with a private bath. Tattoos are not allowed in the public onsen. The room was comfortable and there was tea and hot water for us to use, along with a couple of welcome snacks. We did not choose a room with a view so our room actually looked out onto a dog park but this didn't really bother us. We had the shabu shabu kaiseki for dinner. I do not eat meat so they substituted fish and prawn for some of the courses, which I requested in advance. It was very tasty. The person serving us was very attentive and nice to chat to. Unfortunately we missed breakfast so I cannot comment on how that was. I noticed that at least one review comments on the smell - this is the sulfur in the hot spring water and is to be expected in a spa town! I couldn't smell it inside our room. The only major downside is that this hotel is split across multiple buildings and there is no step free access between the buildings, so this may be an issue if your room is not in the main building. Access between buildings is all inside though, you don't need to go outside to get between them. We were in the south building so there was one flight of stairs but the staff helped us with our bags. There was a small lift in the south building to get to our room. I would recommend this for a traditional experience but bear in mind it is a little bit in the middle of nowhere. We were able to get the Kagoshima airport bus but it is not super frequent so make sure you plan ahead.

::Comfortable rooms and good facilities. The food was high quality, though breakfast is more of a buffet which can get very crowded. There are two different public baths to use, as well as the option to pay for a private bath. The private bath is ¥2200 for just under an hour, but could be halved by following on instagram when we went. Even so, the pricing was a little steep

::We have been to Japan at least 10 times . This is the first time I write a hotel review. This hotel id also the best hotel I have ever stayed in, including service, dining , rooms, reviews. Although the hotel has a long history, the decoration in the room is very new and clean. The view of the room and restourant corresponds to the volcano. The large outdoor hot spring is the selling point of this hotel. I soaked in the hot spring in the big forest and saw sika deer nearby. Although the hotel is 15 minutes away from the bus station. The hotel is very considerate and provides free transportation arrangements at any time. The hotel was very intimated and gave us a gift bags when checked out. There were two hot spring eggs we ate on the way were so delicious. Highly recommend this hotel to relatives and friends.
