::The food was excellent and delicious but the service needs improvement. The rooms and facilities remain quite old and can do with some updating. Nevertheless, it is still a comfortable and beautiful environment.

::Terrible Showa color, ruins the beautiful beach. They do not let the public visit the beach.

::Great value! This hotel is old, but has some great aspects such as a spectacular view, pool for kids, and a beach. It is a perfect hotel for families with kids.

::A great choice for families. There are very few hotels in Japan that can deliver what the Shimoden Washuzan Hotel has to offer: 1) a quiet private beach. 2) a spectacular view from all rooms looking out on the Seto inland sea as well as the series of Seto Bridges. 3) an outdoor pool which does not require any additional fees (most hotels in Japan charge a separate fee for using the pool). The pool is rather shallow, but that makes it safe and ideal for kids to splash and play in. Yes, the building is very old, and there is a lot that could be improved with an investment in the facilities. However, you certainly get good value for your money here. The staff is lovely, the hotel has history, and the price is hard to beat or complain about. Don't expect luxury, and you should be very pleased with what you get for your money at Shimoden Washuzan. Regarding food, the dinner was good. It included a full course of Japanese dishes that was different on the two nights we stayed. The kids meals were good too. There is also an option of having a Japanese style barbecue dinner outside. Breakfast was a bit disappointing but only because due to Covid-19 measures it was a bento box, instead of a buffet. This is very understandable. Nearby the hotel there is plenty to see and do. We strolled the streets of the old town of Kurashiki, enjoyed window-shopping and actual shopping on Jeans Street in Kojima, took great photos from the Washuzan Observation Deck, and enjoyed Udon noodles in Kagawa. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will certainly consider coming again.

::It's a nice place to relax. The beach is good even it is not as big. We enjoy the Ofuro very much with the perfect meals. I enjoyed the thousand step to go for lunch. Mostly recommended to stay.
