::Surrounded by the most magnificent mountains and where the Japanese artist Hokusai spent his later life. There are two museums that are a must, Hokusai and Taki Kazan.

::A bit expensive but delicious and healthy lunch, with magnificent presentation, very much worth it. I had the best (beef cubes in sauce and mixed vegetables). Came with coffee, salad, and small dessert. Outside is a vast garden, now with cherry blossoms.

::Pretty popular lunch spot in Obuse. It took us over an hour to wait to get seated for lunch at 1330. The food is served French cuisine style so in very dainty portions. After or while waiting for orders, guests can walk around the restaurant’s garden. They also have Alfresco dining and allow pets. The staff were accommodating by promptly providing hot water to make formula, and supplying us with a high chair for the baby as soon as we sat down. Parking is available at the Tsuruya supermarket just down the road.

::Walked around the whole outer garden for the first time. Outdoor seating is available - strong, wrought-iron chairs around darkwood tables. Hayama restaurant serves elegant French-fusion meals. A plant shop offering a variety of products is at the front.
