  Pros: Close to a restaurant across the street, and there was a laundromat about half a mile away. Con’s: Hard pillows Hard mattress NO CONTROL OF AC (they literally put a cover over the part where you can see the tempature and disabled the up/down buttons purposely) to do what, save money? Only thing we can do to change the coolness of the room is changing the weak fan in the ac vent from low to high which didn’t make a noticeable change. I usually don’t sweat much but I was soaked in the morning when I woke up and had to run to the laundromat to run another load so I would still have enough clothes for the week. On top of this, the room didn’t come with any tower fans/anything that can blow cool air in your direction, just an air purifier with no temp control that blows straight up to make sure you don’t feel it at all. Definitely won’t be extending my stay at this hotel and will find another one here in Kyoto.

  Unbelievable worst service. The man who appeared to be the manager seemed to be too lazy to even explain the food rather than inexperienced in explaining it. We were told that the course menu was sold out as we entered the restaurant a little after 8:00pm. We were constantly offered a la carte, but were recommended curry, pasta etc. (I felt he didn't want to serve the course menu because it took so long.) A new girl came in later to order, but she didn't know everything on the menu. I don't know if it would have been better if it had been Japanese food. I used to look forward to coming to this restaurant every year, but I will never come here again. The Royal Host restaurant right in front of this hotel is cheaper, tastier and has the best service. I will not go to Tokyu anymore. It was my mistake of choice. This is just three stars hotel.

  Gorgeous hotel, stunning lobby and bar areas, standard rooms a little small compared to others and the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze. But overall friendly service (the barman was lovely and spoke excellent English) and good location. I would stay again but book an executive room next time.

  The hotel was fine but the most important aspect, comfort, it was lacking. It was not that way for all of our group that stayed there, for us it was a different experience. The room AC was controlled by the hotel. We called to complain because it was so hot. They replied with a tower fan and showed us how to open the window. It was just as hot outside as in the room. Would I stay there again? No. If in a room where the ac worked? Maybe.

  The hotel was very good value and the rooms were large. One issue is the shuttle between Kyoto station and the Hotel runs hourly it seems and stops around 8pm which is pretty inconvenient. The rooms also did not have much control of the air conditioning and the filters provided in the room for the air were very old. The hotel looks really nice inside though and the staff are very friendly.
