::Nice hotel, good location , staff could communicate in english, good value of money, hotel is just next to the river and you can hear the river when you open the window from your room

::Very close to shrine but you are paying only for the location. Dirtiest room ever stayed in Japan, room smells musty, towels are smelly.

::Sure, it's the kind of place we only go for special occasions, but we know we're in for a great experience when we do. We had a corner room with a private bath overlooking the river, so we could listen to it flow by and view the autumn colors while soaking. Glad that breakfast was early so we had time to enjoy it the night before and before check-out. Dinner was a kaiseki meal was served in a semi-private room. The courses were timed well, so we never felt like we had to rush through any before the next one arrived. If I had any complaints, it would be that it was hard to get full without something heavy, like noodles or more rice, to compliment the variety of meats, veggies, and fish.

::We've stayed here two times in 2019... Both excellent experiences. Spend the extra money for the largest room with the onsen inside the room. The food alone is worth about $200 per person for dinner if you were to eat in Kyoto or Tokyo. This is fantastic, the location perfect, the service perfect. Better than the Ritz Carlton. Trust me on this.

::A lovely ryokan with amazing service- getting out of the taxi which took us there, our bags were immediately whisked away by a hotel staff and we were served tea and ginger while they got the papers ready. We got a tour and a huge dinner with several parts, guided along by a friendly attendant who didn't know much English (the one we had for breakfast knew much however). It was all very delicious. The room was lovely also and the beds were put out while we were eating dinner. It's a comfy size with nice desks and a beautiful open air hot bath overlooking the river, mountains and a bit of the road below :b We didn't test the public onsen but what I saw, it was pretty also. The hotel staff brought us back to the train station via shuttle bus, kindly. Expensive ($900 a night for us) but a lovely experience at this hotel.
