  We booked this place without any pre info and we can say that we scored! To start with we came to ski and it was the ideal base for the local Myoko region. Mieko our host was absolutely the best host always helping us even how tired she may of been bless her. We got access to cheaper deals around the mountains with both ski passes and transport. Mieko also sent us to the best places to eat for dinner….The rooms were also good, beds were good, onsen was great, breakfast was exceptional, location was perfect! We met many lovely guests also staying there. I would love to come back someday I hope I can!!

  We had an amazing week at Kougakuro hotel in Akakura Onsen. The manager, Meiko, and her staff provided excellent service. So friendly and helpful for us newbies to Japan. The hotel is very well located to ski hire shop (Joey's) and many restaurants. If needed Meiko will arrange restaurant bookings. We had a double western room that was large, clean, very warm and comfortable. Down stairs bar, and lounge were great places to relax after a day skiing. Closest lift on Akakura Onsen field was only a few min walk and a free shuttle to Akakura Kanto was at end of the drive. Food was great and morning breakfasts were a highlight. I hope to be back again some day.

  This is a comfortable, clean and lovely place. Mieko, the proprietor, couldn’t do enough for us. She was so helpful with booking restaurants and getting us discounts everywhere. Breakfast was a highlight with friendly and welcoming staff. The Onsen was a great way to end a day on the slopes which you could walk to easily. Unforgettable! Highly recommended.

  Mieko, the proprietor, as well as the rest of her staff are absolutely awesome. They made us feel so welcome and were responsive to our requests. The rooms are simple and comfortable, well heated and clean.

  Fabulos location, comfy large rooms, great and wide selwction of breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. We had 10days here and loved the convenience and service. Our first trip back in 8yrs and Myoko Akakura Onsen has changed. This Ryokyn is an Onsen focused Hotel firat yet has adapted to service the powder hound. It was a great experience and will return. Thank you for making our trip homely and friendly with your caring service.
