::Wonderful and welcoming place. The man who ran it was very accommodating and helpful. His son also gave us a free ride to the monkey park which was very much appreciated. This place has a charm you don't see at very many places anymore. Highly recommend.

::Booked 1 night in advance but stayed for 3 it was so relaxing. The owner is the most attentive and accommodating man! Made sure we hade all we need, know where to go, even inquired as to where we were going…to make sure our experience was great. Hotel is older but in great shape. The free/24-7 in house onsen was hot as heck! Varied day by day of course depending on what is being cooked up underground! Very clean. We had a simple and traditional Japanese room which is what we wanted.

::Very nice cozy hotel. Excellent service, the owners were very kind and helpful. They gave us all the information about the town and the snow monkey park. The private onsen can be scheduled so you can use it alone. Overall great experience. 100% recommended!

::Shimaya is a wonderful, quiet Ryokan. The owners were so lovely and helpful. They arranged to drop us off at the snow monkey park and then saved the day by picking us up again when taxis wouldn't come. The bathroom smell was unusual but we got used to it. We recommend staying here when you're in town.

::My sister and I stayed here one night and loved it. Great experience. They offer rides to Snow Monkey Park in the early mornings and they offer to pick guests up if you give them a call before a certain time. The onsen is nice and the staff is phenomenal and very friendly. Only thing I can't comment on is food since we didn't have a meal here. Otherwise, 10/10 would stay here again :)
