::Normally I'd be more generous, but the hotel itself is pretty old. The location is breathtaking however. There are a few more better hotels in the area, but a solid option if you're not going all out on your budget. Did experience an earthquake while here, which was terrifying because it's on the side of a mountain lol. It's also close to white water rafting and a zipline.

::Overall it was a very nice stay and the staff were really friendly. The onsen is great too. Main things you need to know beforehand: * you definitely want to have a rental car here. Also, rent the car in Shikoku from a nearby city, don't road trip a long distance. Express way tolls are ridiculously expensive (driving from Osaka cost me ¥10,000+.....) * there is no food available in the area after ~4pm (besides a Lawson that's about 15 min drive away). So make sure to get dinner reservations at the hotel, or plan ahead and bring food with you. The dinner is pretty nice with several courses, but a bit pricey.

::The room, service and onsen are all very good. BUT there is absolutely no food except the expensive omiyage. The reservation said no breakfast included so I knew we would have to pay for it. But I didn't expect there was actually no food available at all. We were told the restaurant was closed because of COVID measure but when we passed near it it was full of people eating. When we asked we got told it was only on reservation, which wasn't made clear anywhere. Having know they don't have food we would have bought more at the conbini.

::We had a nice stay. There're both Western and Japanese style rooms, and both are a little aged, but comfortable. Navigating the hotel from the side tower to the main tower was a little confusing, though! The hotel dinner and breakfast was kaiseki cuisine; very fancy and delicious. My favourite part of the stay was, of course, the onsen! The best part of staying at an onsen as a guest is you're more likely to have the baths to yourself at night. ;) There's a lot of baths to choose from, and I liked the yomogi bath, and the main one that made my skin feel silky. There's also a lovely salt sauna! Very nice.

::Really nice public bath. Many kinds of pools, and the outdoor section is divine, especially during the day. There isn't much of a view, but the atmosphere is still great. The salt sauna was also really nice, and the locals were talkative.
