::This place is great! I think some of these reviews must be before it was revamped. I had a private room and it was large, clean and modern! The location is perfect, just around the corner from the Dogo Onsen. And lots of great restaurants nearby. Cheap given the area and excellent value!

::Our stay at Eco Dogo was perfect. The location is AMAZING as it’s really close to both Dogo Onsen and it Annex, to the 2 shoppings streets the whole family enjoyed and also to good restaurants and bakeries which made it very convenient for everyone . The Japanese room was nice and quite affordable. Bathrooms were clean and staff was nice. The only thing you have got to keep in mind is that it is quite far from Matsuyama station . It looks close on the map, but the little tramway that takes you back and forth is very slow and it takes about 30 minutes to reach the station from the hotel . Therefore, staying here for the onsen vibe is definitely the best. Staying here as a base hoping to go on day trips from Matsuyama wouldn’t be recommended .

::The receptionist is extremely nice and kind. However, I was slightly surprised when she handed us (6) clean linen for us to put over our futons and duvet. There is no lift in this place, so unless you want a bit of a workout, ask for a room on the lower floor. The place is very near dogo onsen (but part of it is under renovation).

::Cons : The facilities are in bad shape. The first floor and second floor are quite well-maintained and looked new, but the floors above that are questionable. There are three bunk beds in each designated room, so there's six possible occupants in total in each room. This is a problem for those who like their own space as the room itself is quite small considering the amount of beds cramped into it. The dorm floors should be separated to male and female, but there are guys in the girls' rooms and vice versa. The showers are also shared, and the toilet has no bidet for those who are wondering. The bed itself consists of a thin mattress, a worn comforter and some bean bag pillow, and you'll have to put on the bed covers by yourself and take if off when you want to check out. The room is incredibly dusty since the room is so small and the window is rarely opened. There are coin laundry available on the second floor, but the dryer is dusty as well for being overpriced. Pros: The location is easily accessible from Dogo Onsen Station, a spacious (paid) parking lot is available at the front of the hotel and the staff is the friendliest and very patient. If you come in as a group of friends, you can opt for a room of your own depending on which day of the week you stop by. If you're really in a pinch and want to save money (especially if you're travelling alone), then this place is the best choice for you. Otherwise, if you are with family or friends you'd better off staying somewhere else for the sake of comfort.

::Of all the hostels I've stayed in in Japan, this is by far the most bare bones and the worst. Their beds are the most uncomfortable I've even slept on: I have slept on dirt more comfortable than their beds. You get 1 outlet per bed, but the outlet is in your locker so you can't charge your phone and keep it by you, or feasibly use it at all while charging it. The building itself is incredibly loud. It's impossible for even the most quiet, polite person to leave the room without the door making a loud noise. The building is old and parts are in need of repair. All around a terrible experience. Only good thing about it is the location. Stay at any of the other hostels in the area instead.
