::This place has an air of great things to come. It's not easy to find really, and seemed like a great secret that I'd been lucky to be privy to. And, this continued with the staff who were very professional looking, though hard to hear over the speaker. The food started coming, and looked great. But, that is where the illusion ended. It was colorful, prettily modern ish. But, blan. The fish and egg plant tasted like fish and egg plant, no seasoning, nothing to savor. Sauces dropped here and there were either soy sauce or something purely decorative. Again and again, maybe they ran out of salt or something? Maybe it's a hip way of cooking. Maybe being pretty on a plate is their schtick. It wasn't disgusting, and there is certainly something I didn't understand. My companion got two tiny fish lost in a few tiny veggies for the entre. I got some small rolls of chicken, they tasted like chicken. The desserts were Cozy Corner level. Fine, if you like that sort of thing. It seemed to me pretentious. They spent a lot of time explaining each dish... We didn't ask. They had fancy outfits, and hats. It seemed all the cooks got tall hats, just for show. Was the head chef dead?. I ended up full. The two large buns of bread were very nicely baked, and fresh.

::My husband and I held our wedding here. After visiting about 4-5 different venues, we decided that this one was exactly what we wanted for our big day. Of the places we visited, Monolith was not the cheapest but, I can say that it was worth every yen. The view is spectacular, the hair and makeup artist was thorough, the flower arrangement was beautiful, the cuisine was some of the best I've had outside of Michelin starred restaurants (plus they provided equally excellent vegetarian & halal options for guests with dietary requirements). Although I was very particular about everything, and my ideas were quite eccentric they worked with us and made sure that our day would be anything but cookie-cutter (which is the only option most Japanese wedding venues provide). Our wedding was held right before the Coronavirus outbreak rendered large gatherings impossible. Fortunately for us, Yokohama Monolith was very understanding of the general disarray that the pandemic brought with it. The planner that we worked with was positively EXCELLENT and kept me relatively calm by making the last minute changes to the guest list and seating charts really smooth. The staff was all friendly and made our special day that much more special.
