::One of the best onsens I have ever been to. I picked Saginoyu as it had a sauna and an outdoor bath, I am so happy I did! The sauna was great and the cold bath right next to it was much colder compared to all the other onsens I have been to, which made me very happy. It’s not the biggest onsen but it blew my mind how soft and silky the water was. I’m glad I stopped over in Takeo just for this hot spring. The entrance fee was 740¥ and towel rental was 300¥ It was only a 15 minute walk from JR Takeo Onsen station

::It was small compare to other onsens we've been to but it is the experience that counts. Visiting the history of 1300+ years was very appealing to us. It is said that back in the olden days when people were traveling on foot🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶 on this route, Takeo Onsen♨️ has been highly reputed for its high-quality hot spring water and helped people to rejuvenate themselves during their long journey. The water 💧 was silky indeed and feels nice on your skin.

::One of the nicest onsens. 450 JPY and 600 JPY for public onsen. Really nice and well maintained. The one with 450 jpy had two pools - one with hot water (42-43 degree C) and another one with very hot (44-45 degree C). Couldn’t stay more than 2 mins in the second one. But it felt great! There are free lockers available. No food facility inside the onsen building. The romontei Sakura-mon gate is built by the same architect who designed tokyo station!

::Takeo Onsen has a cluster of three onsen in close proximity, Saginoyu, Houraiyu and Motoyu. It also offers family baths like Karouyu and Hananoyu. The onsen is housed in the compounds of Shinkan Building and Romon Tower Gate which are designated as National Important Cultural Property. The baths are segregated, with Saginoyu offering indoor, outdoor and sauna baths water is alkaline and leaves a nice feeling on the skin. Lockers for shoes are provided. Shampoo, body soap, hair dryers and refundable ¥100 lockers are available in the changing / bath areas.

::Very refreshing and relaxing. Went with my wife our last few days in Japan and wish we had more time. Very affordable (¥2300/hour for private room with 2 people) and friendly staff. Should be on everyone's to do list if on Kyushu Island.
