  All other 5-star reviews are accurate! Best sushi experience of our lives. Sushi chef Yamaguchi is extremely gifted with his knowledge on aging, fabricating, cooking, etc of all seafood that is served at this amazing establishment. Open for 30 years now and it blows my mind this place isn’t more recognized than it is, which is even more alluring. Not only was chef Yamaguchi of the utmost professional, but so was the rest of the staff. Extremely welcoming hospitality through and through. Cannot say enough amazing things about this place. Don’t pass up your opportunity to experience it!

  Simply amazing !!!! Next time I’ll be in Japan I will definitely go back to Kanazawa just to go to Mekumi. Amazing highest quality food and lovely atmosphere.

  Yes, if you eat at Mekumi you will be doomed forever, meaning other places will probably pale in comparison. Mind blowing from beginning to the end; every nigiri tells a story. The taisho’s eyes really sparkle when he elaborates on fish and the ocean, bringing the narrative to life. I couldn’t help but smile.

  One of the supreme Sushi-restaurant in Japan. The chef is expert of the see and fish. This is the live-library for food.

  Best sushi of my life. Almost cried when it was over (sobbing). Magical place even if you speak no Japanese and must visit for any sushi fanatic. Just incredible. Also the no phone policy makes it a much better experience where you can truly focus on the chefs devotion to his life’s’ work.
