::I’m so glad I made it to Mie! I spent 4 days and 3 nights there, staying at Shiojitei for the first and third nights. They were kind enough to store my luggage while I traveled to other parts of Mie on Day 2. During my first night, I stayed in a room with a private onsen. The room was spacious, with a beautiful layout and architecture, and it overlooked a charming little garden. For my third night, I stayed in a standard room since I booked it last minute while checking out after my first night. The room was simple but still very comfortable. I loved the Mikimoto skincare and body care products provided in the room, and I especially enjoyed the pearly Mikimoto onsen, which left my skin smooth and gave it a beautiful shimmer! Both of my stays included breakfast and dinner. The establishment also organises evening get-togethers, which is a nice touch, even though I’m not much for mingling. Shiojitei overlooks a stunning blue landscape, and while it has a small private “beach” area, it’s lovely for a peaceful stroll. They also offer a regular shuttle bus service, and you can easily take the sightseeing bus or train to nearby attractions. Worth every penny, and I will definitely be back. Thank you, Shiojitei, for your wonderful hospitality and for taking such good care of me!

::The hotel is not far from the train station but they have shuttle bus as well. We walked from the station. The hotel is nothing but luxuery. The service, room, food and everything showed elegance. We had a relaxing night. Altough it was a rainy day, we walked backyard to the water front. The hotel restaurant is all private room. I didn't see many children in guests.

::I recently stayed at this hotel renowned for its pearl public bath, which was the main reason for our visit. The location is fantastic, especially if you’re driving your own car, offering easy access and convenience. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and have a basic understanding of English. However, on the day of my stay, which was just after the 7.5 magnitude Ishikawa earthquake, the experience was marred by several fire alarm activations. Guests were very alert and promptly went to the hall when the alarm went off. The staff reassured us that the alarms were due to a malfunction and that there was no real danger. Unfortunately, the announcements were initially only in Japanese, leaving non-Japanese speakers anxious and uncertain. The frequent alarms understandably made guests nervous, including my child, who was so frightened that we had to spend quite a while calming her down. On the positive side, the public spaces are elegant and well-maintained, and the pearl public bath was as wonderful as expected. I also appreciated the milk vending machine outside the public bath, which was a nice touch. However, the guest room itself was somewhat outdated. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room, and noticed some issues such as peeling wallpaper and a damaged floor chair, which detracted from the overall comfort. While we enjoyed the service and the pearl public bath, the fire alarm incident and the room's condition did affect the quality of our stay.

::Great place for a weekend relaxation. Staff are very kind and helpful. If you love Japanese cousine i would recommend to take the dinner menu.

::We had a very unfortunate experience at this hotel involving what we think are tatami mites or dani. - We stayed in a Japanese style room (514) with tatami and futons on the floor. While the room was aesthetically nice, my partner woke up in the middle of the first night with about ten bites on their body. We thought maybe a mosquito, but the bites became very inflamed over the course of the next day and they suffered further bites the next night in patterns of two or three bites. We wondered if they were bed bugs, but research led us to believe that they were tatami mites (as they become active as the weather warms up, bite in clusters and have bites that show almost immediately). - We advised the staff the next morning and were offered apologies and a full refund for the two nights that we stayed, which seemed an appropriate response. (It should be noted that throughout the stay, the staff were great and the hotel otherwise was really nice). - While, I am reluctant to post this review as the hotel managed the situation well, I believe it is important to hold the hotel accountable for ensuring the rooms are pest-free and to allow future travellers to make informed choices around the risk of staying here.
