::Stayed for one night in April. I can totally attest to what the other reviews say – the room was very clean, the common area was nicely decorated with Totoro items, and the hosts provided very good hospitality and was enjoyable to talk to (even with limited Japanese ability) One thing to note - out of the shower rooms, the shower with the ofuro (bathtub) appeared to be the women’s bathroom. We were informed that the other guest were not using the shower so we had unlimited access to it, but if there was, I am not sure of it. I was very impressed and would not hesitate to say here again if I am ever back in Hakodate.

::The hosts, Oto-san and Oka-san, are wonderful people, who, through their kindness and by going the extra mile, made my stay unforgettable. It was raining the first evening, so Oto-san brought me to the Onsen in his car. He also prepared a souvenir before I left. Besides that, the house is charming and the room was clean as well as spacious. A hidden gem in Hakodate - no wonder it is often booked out. If I could, I would give 6 stars 🤩

::The hosts were so sweet. We arrived quite late and hungry and they called up restaurants for us to see if they were open and had space. They were super helpful and gave us the cutest picture and chopsticks souvenir. The room was great and comfy. It's pretty close to the tram stop. I would happily go here again if I'm visiting Hakodate!

::We had a wonderful stay at Pension Jokura and can highly recommend it. It's a traditional Japanese house with gorgeous decorations (lots of small owl and Totoro figures) and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The owners were very kind and charming, as well.

::A wonderful couple owns this bed-and-breakfast. They speak decent English, and could not be nicer and more hospitable from the moment you arrive. They greet you with drinks and snacks as you sit in a room full of beautiful, antiques that they have collected over the years. The house is clean and the traditional Japanese bed is very comfortable. The bathrooms are great. There was no one else staying there when I was There, so it was very quiet. The husband took me to the airport for free and refused to take any money. Just such wonderful people and they gave me a gift at the end of local Japanese snacks if you like the personal touch of people whose lives are dedicated towards hospitality. Then you must them and say hello for me.
