We stayed 2 nights which included delicious dinners and breakfasts of locally sourced produce itemised and explained on individually printed menus. The staff were wonderful and helpful making us feel special. The onsen had 3 onsen choices inside outside and a sauna and was very well maintained. We booked a mountain side western style twin room which was comfortable. You could choose a yukata and slippers in your size. Overall a very nice experience, and I would definitely recommend staying.

Booked the traditional tatami room as I wanted a firm mattress. It’s old but clean. Very spacious for couple use. Shower water pressure is a little wet, but I guess most guests will go to the public bath Onsen bath anyway? My room is on the 4th floor facing the road, it may get noisy so light sleepers be aware! Dinner set was great, do make sure you order your package with dinner and breakfast!

Dinner and breakfast are delicious. The equipment in room are new. 温泉 is normal but japan atmosphere. It a little bit far from 大步危 station. Suggest to call hotel's shuttle in advance.

Few of the staff spoke much (or any) English but were very pleasant and tried hard to be helpful. One of the restaurant staff explained to me how to eat a poached egg with hashi! I opted for the full local meal experience which is very definitely worth the cost. Both evening meals and breakfasts were feasts. The room was a little out of date and the hot water varied a lot in temperature. The location is perfect as a base for touring the Iya valley if you are travelling by train. Oboke is a few minutes by taxi. I can recommend Iya Valley Tours highly for a one-day guided tour.

Nice hotel in a gorgeous setting. Hotel itself is fairly old, but still in good upkeep. Nice facilities, including an onsen and restaurant. Indoors and outdoors onsen, with the outdoors section overlooking the bridge and spectacular gorge. The restaurant was a surprising delight, with the kaiseki exceeding all expectations. Delicately and perfectly curated and prepared. Nice and friendly staff to complete the experience.
