::The old building was constructed in 1906 (Meiji 39) as the former Daiichi Bank Kyoto Branch. It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno, who is famous for designing the red brick station building of Tokyo Station, and a design firm established with Manji Kasai. It was a beautiful Tatsuno-style building with red brick exterior walls and granite stripes. However, such a valuable building was demolished in 2003 and replaced with a completely new building made of reinforced concrete, making it look like a replica pasted onto the exterior. It's a shame that they couldn't at least keep the outer walls and roof like the Chukyo Post Office.

::This is also a classic brick building, but it is a replica that was rebuilt in 2003. That's why it's still new now, but I'm sure it will be a nice building in 100 years. 100 years will pass in the blink of an eye for this city.

::Well I'm just here to admire the old building

::It was originally the Kyoto branch of Daiichi Bank and was built in 1906. Designed by Kingo Tatsuno, it has a red brick and white obi style called the Tatsuno style. It was demolished in 1999 and rebuilt as a replica in 2003.

::It is supposed to be the main Kyoto branch of Mizuho but they are pretty limited in their capabilities. No English speaking staff and atm is hit or miss depending on your home bank whether you will be able to take out money or not. Staff is polite and will try to help you though so that is a plus. Also, historical building adds to the atmosphere a bit as well.
