::I'd give it 0 stars if possible. For the price, the service, rooms, and food were garbage. Waited over 90 mins for breakfast to find out that there is little to no food. The staff is totally overwhelmed. Empty seats and still people waiting outside to come in. It's a disaster.

::Very big hotel. Some parts (lobby) were renovated but our room (Japanese style) and bathroom were old. The room was big and clean, so we were satisfied with the room. The onsen was very nice, and they serve tea and a special rice juice after the onsen. In the lobby you can get free drinks (alcoholic and soft drinks) and a big variety of snacks. If you don't have a car, you have to take a bus from the station and walk for a few minutes. Not ideal with luggage but manageable. The hotel is located in a village but there is a supermarket near by and some restaurants, too. I would stay here again.
Human Being
::Check-in was ok in Japanese but a little curt in English. This is the first thing we do in a hotel, and the first impression is always the most important. We appreciated the fact that our beds were already made, as it's not the case in every Mercure hotels. The outside public bath was small but good and there was a nice resting area before entering the changing room with complementary tea. We checked-in and checked-out late so we sadly missed all the lounge benefits. We appreciated the fact that check-out was allowed until 11am.

::Please be aware that this hotel is currently experiencing operational issues. I strongly advise against staying here for the time being. I had made a reservation and checked in at around 8 PM. Upon arrival, the staff informed me, "Your room is not ready yet, but we expect it will be in about an hour. We will call you, so please wait." The lobby was crowded with families, indicating that many guests were facing similar delays. By 10 PM, having received no further communication, I was forced to book another hotel. It is unacceptable for a hotel to fail to provide a room by 10 PM, despite holding a confirmed reservation. Upon querying the staff, I was told that such delays are a daily occurrence. It appears the hotel is overbooking and failing to manage its operations efficiently.

::Pros: large room, car park Cons: 1. Female staff attended the Male public bath (for close to 20 mins, including in bathing area with naked male guests), which I found inappropriate. I did not see her clean either so purpose was not clear. 2. Rooms need refurbishment. 3. During check out, front staff asked me to pay despite the fact the room had already been paid online. Then they insisted on getting my full credit card details for their account reconciliation purpose (that’s a first!), despite explaining them the booking had been done through a (famous) online website. 4. Do not be fooled by the “Mountain View”, staff says it’s all around the hotel but it is truly for the backside rooms, which are also less noisy. The frontside rooms only have a very limited Mountain View far away on the horizon. 5. Centralized heating system in the room, you cannot choose your desired temperature.
