::It seems to be in a middle of nowhere but very peaceful and quiet, a few Taiwanese tour groups but the onsen are very good one of the best onsen I've experienced. Rooms are a little old. Snow are still solid and nice even in end March.

::You won't get luxury at this place but you will feel like you got what you paid for. I don't think the dinner buffet (6800 yen at the time of writing) was worth it, but it's probably a fair price given the isolated nature of this area. The view from the open air bath was amazing, the service staff were cheerful and polite and the room was clean. I want to thank the service staff for taking care of me :-) The view from my room was also pretty incredible (East Wing), unfortunately the window fogged up with condensation past day 2.

::The rooms were outdated but still well maintained. You also have a nice view from it. The service was okay nothing good nothing bad. They just didn't seem to care most of the time. When I came with a lot of luggages they just looked at me without helping. Their attitude towards me was still respectful tho. The location itself is simply magnificent. You are on top of a volcano! What else can there be said? The highlight of this hotel is the onsen with a wonderful view on the volcano. You can even see smoke rising from it. On top of that you can use the onsen of the sister hotel located next to this one. Tbh. this hotel doesn't have much going for it except the fact that it has an amazing onsen but that's the reason you wanna go to that area in the first place, right? So overall I'd say it's worth it. P.S. I would only consider staying at this hotel if you have a car. It's very remote, the next Town (Kusatsu) is 30 min away by car. There are no convenience stores or supermarkets nearby. The hotel itself has a shop and is stocked up with snacks but expect to pay a premium for that.

::Despite having mixed bathing, they also have onsens for women only and men only. The view in the mixed onsen was as dreamy as it can get. The snowflakes were falling in our heads while bathing in turquoise mineral rich water and then there’s the view of the snow covered mountain with steam rising from its sulfur banks. Don’t worry, you can either wear the bought sari or rent the free one to cover you up while in the mixed pool. The breakfast came with our room and was really good. Another service we enjoyed was their massage located near the front desk area.
