::Located close to the train station, this hotel offers an authentic ryokan experience with excellent service. The hotel manager provided detailed information on local attractions, ensured the billing was accurate (at his expense), and helped bring my luggage to the room before check-in. The hotel also offers a greater degree of privacy than others in my experience, and the the 24h onsen was underutilized to the point of being a private bath. While the cedar bathtub is beginning to show signs of dilapidation, I found it to have a certain rustic charm. I would recommend this as a solid budget choice for solo travelers.

::An onsen inn from a bygone era. Rooms are comfortable, bath is relaxing, the location is great and the owners extremely kind. Would definitely stay here again.

::This charming boarding house was a storybook picture of Japanese hospitality. Our host was pleasantly stoic and he spoke with the calm demeanor of a wiseman atop a hill. He was kind enough to chauffeur us to Snow Monkey Park and offer some fascinating tidbits along the way. His sister, Mayumi, lit up our lives forever--her laughter is still ringing in our hearts. The onsen was steaming hot, 24 hours a day. The breakfast was authentic and decadent. The decor was an explosion of kitsch. Please, do yourself a favor and book a few nights at this magical getaway. It's a portal back to decades long past.

::My favorite stay in Japan. Next to the wonderful Snow Monkey Park. Very cute and clean rooms. The owner is so sweet, as he took us to the park and gave us additional information. I was sad to not have enough time for his free archery course. This was a unique and beautiful stay.

::Me and my family had a wonderful experience staying at this traditional Ryokan. The hosts, Kazuhisa and Mayumi Miyasaka are lovely people. They communicate well in English and shared so many stories and knowledge with us. We enjoyed some Origami lessons and also a brief but incredible archery session with Sensei Miyasaka. What a special place he has. So much history in there. The rooms and the place are not modern but for us it adds to the charm and the experience. I felt like going back to the memories of my japanese grandmas place. We didnt try the meals but will for sure return in the coming years n try as the smell from the kitchen was very inviting. The onsen is open 24h n we loved that. Location is great. Close to the bus n train station and many food options including a delicious bao bun place a few steps away.
