::Hotel Zen was used as a lodging for a family trip in August. Although the hotel is about 10 minutes away from Hirosaki station by car, the manager of the hotel, Mr. Wataru, helped us as much as time and number of people allowed. The room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious, with free drinks and coffee, and the manager could be contacted via cell phone. Mr. Wataru called a taxi for us and drove us to the restaurant. We were traveling during a typhoon and the manager was very helpful! We had a great experience at Hotel Zen!

::I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for an exceptional stay! Firstly, the room exceeded our expectations in terms of size and aesthetics. Spaciousness is a rare find in Japan, so we were really surprised by the apartment-sized room! Furthermore, the room's design and furnishings were modern and luxurious, looking like it was way above its price point. The standout feature of our stay was undoubtedly the exemplary service provided by the hotel manager, Mr Wataru. He went above and beyond to arrange transport to and from the main town, which was a lifesaver to us given the limited transport options in Hirosaki. His fluency in English and prompt responses via Whatsapp made communication easy, and provided us with the peace of mind during our stay. The room, bathroom and linens were very clean, and the shower had excellent water pressure (much welcomed after a day of sightseeing). We also appreciated that we could adjust the room temperature using the air-conditioner or heater (not tied to central heating / cooling). The coffee pod machine and the onsen-style bathroom also provided indulgences in the comfort of our own room. We also liked the sense of privacy of this hotel. The rooms were like small villas that guests access directly from the car, so we did not have to worry about encountering unpleasant characters in the lobby, elevator or room hallway.

::Truly amazing is all I can say! The cleanliness, the comfort, the amenities and toiletries, as well as the hospitality is unmatched. I highly highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast was also beyond amazing. If I can give more than five stars I would.

::My review will be a bit more critical and in-detail than I usually write, but this is because it cost me $250 for one night stay, so expectations are set higher. Upon arrival, I had the pleasure of being greeted by Wataru. He is truly a massive addition to your stay. He is very welcoming, can answer all your questions (in English) and is available via social media after you've checked in. He showed me to my private parking space and room and showed me how to operate the appliances. The room itself at first glance looks modern and of a high standard. Sadly, upon closer inspection I noticed quite a few things. Firstly, there were an alarming number of stains on the floors throughout the room. Considering this place is used as a love hotel, one can only start to assume what these stains are... Secondly, the cover of the duvet on my bed was torn. If this room would have cost me $40 (like most of the other places I stayed at on my trip), it would not have bothered me much. But for the price I paid, this is just unacceptable. Thirdly, there is no way to completely black out the room. There is a floor window at the front that shows the little rock garden out front, which seems like a cool addition until you realize that the paper blinds do not keep the light out of the room at all. Things I did enjoy in my room were the large bathtub and lots of beauty products including a face mask and bath salts. I was also offered a breakfast bento the morning of check out which was delicious. They also had beautiful yukata available to wear that were decorated with drawings of Hirosaki Castle and the large Neputa. The hotel itself is in a quiet location outside of the center. There are a few restaurants and konbini in the area, but for the rest it is mostly a residential area (with another couple of love hotels nearby). So, was it worth the price I paid? Definitely not. But then again, it was the height of the cherry blossom festival and there were no other options available, so I am still glad I got to stay here in the end.

::This hotel is more than five stars, I would give this hotel six stars. The hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms and toilets are spacious and comfortable. The location of the hotel is quiet and easy to sleep. In particular, I was impressed by the hotel's comprehensive shuttle service. After checking out, we were going to Hirosaki Park to enjoy the cherry blossoms. I was worried that there would be no place to store my luggage at the station. The senior manager of the hotel specially drove us to the station and took us to store our luggage to make sure there was room for my luggage. I just left, which made me feel quite considerate. This hotel is great both in terms of physical facilities and soft services. I recommend everyone to stay in this hotel when coming to Hirosaki, so that you can have a wonderful journey and memories in Hirosaki.
