::I choose this hotel for our anniversary, it’s also the only hotel with attached bathroom in Murodo. The hotel is on the old side kind of retro which add to the old nostalgic feel. Only downside is the mattress and pillow the rest are 5 stars service and cuisine. Also perfect room to see directly Feb alps of Murodo including spotting a raicho just after sunrise. We will definitely stay here again for other seasons.

::The hotel is old but it’s well maintained. I find that the Tateyama Kurobe alpine route journey is tiring and overwhelming so I would highly recommend to stay a night in Tateyama. Many tour groups thus the queue and atmosphere is overwhelming and busy , there are also many stairs and steep walking. Being a hotel guest u could join a snow wall tour at 5pm (exclusive access just for hotel guest as the snow wall is closed at 3pm) . Another plus point is probably star gazing and sun rise tour(extra charge occurred ) . Unfortunately my sun rise tour is cancelled due to weather , please note that in general it’s only 30% chance for the sun rise tour to happen . The dinner served is quite good.

::Hotel Tateyama, despite being a bit on the older side, provides a lovely experience overall. The staff are super friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home. When it comes to food, they don't disappoint either. The Japanese traditional dinner is a highlight, and the breakfast, offering both Western and Japanese options, is satisfying. Though the price might be a tad higher, it's justified by the quality of service and amenities. One of the perks is the availability of free snow gear, which is fantastic if you're planning to hit the slopes. Additionally, their evening snow tours are a unique way to explore the mountain, and the presentations they offer about the area are both informative and enjoyable. One of the best things about Hotel Tateyama is the opportunity to experience the mountain without the usual crowds, especially after 5 pm. This allows for a more serene and intimate connection with the natural surroundings. Overall, despite its age, Hotel Tateyama offers a memorable and enjoyable stay, making it a highly recommended choice for anyone looking to experience the beauty of the area.

::It's amazing to stay in such a hotel located on top of the mountain. It's excellent when you want to fully enjoy the hikes around murodo, but also wanted to stay comfy. I travelled with my parents and they absolutely loved it here. - hotel staff are nice, polite and helpful - The big public bath is very nice after a full day of hike, water is hot and comfy. :) - Food was nice and sashimi was surprising fresh. - I booked early and got a room with Tateyama view. It was absolutely amazing! Night sky were lovely with the snowy mountain top in view. - Be warned though depending on the direction of the wind, there could be sulphur smell of the volcanic gas from jigoku dani. We were awoken by a moderate smell of sulphur in the middle of the night. The hotel did remind people about altitude sickness and general health but not this particular thing, so I'm just leaving a quick comment for people with asthma to be aware of this because there is no where to avoid when you're in a hotel on top of the mountains. :)

::The location is excellent. The staff were professional. We very much enjoyed the retro feel of the hotel, it’s like a time capsule, very beautiful and tranquil. I hope they keep it this way. The colour and the architecture are beautiful inside. It’s contemporary, appears to be from the 1950s. So much better than anything new!
