Best hotel in Akita in my mind. Next to Akita Station (owned by JR East). The North Wing is very new - room very new and functional. Restroom space huge.

This was my second visit to the property, unfortunately, I came away disappointed. It started with my arrival at 1 pm. I had been up for 40 hours- I made the staff aware-and asked if I may go to my room, which was ready. I was told that check-in was at 3 and so I would have to pay for the additional two hours. This is beyond ridiculous and a horrible policy- This was a five-night stay. None of the other properties I stayed in Japan, or for that matter, the rest of the world follows this rigid rule. It seems that management has forgotten that they are in the business of hospitality! Also, my wake-up call came an hour late on my departure day. I was hoping to have my breakfast-which was paid for-before leaving. I had to ask for an apology. Training is needed!!!!!!

Hotel location is great, near the train station with reasonable price. All staff are friendly and helpful. Room is very neat and clean with firm bed, as standard. Breakfast is very tasty and delicious, it also contains authentic local Akita food.

This hotel is located just right next to the Akita train station and connected actually to the train station and can pass through the stores if there are open. Amenities are good, clean bathroom and bathtub, clean beds and couch, free bottled water and daily cleaning. This has a seven eleven and starbucks connected at the ground floor. Everything is around you. Here is a room tour.

We were in Akita for one short night, the scenic train from Aomori stops here, so that was the main reason for our visit. Since it was such a short time in the city, we had just two requirements for our hotel (1) provide three beds and (2) be close to the train station. For #1, see the picture provided with my review. They in fact have rooms with three beds and provide it WITH space to spare, which is pretty rare in Japan. For #2, you pretty much cannot get closer to the station. The hotel is connected via a mall and corridor to the main Akita Station, there are signs that point you in the direction of the hotel from the time you get into the station, which makes it pretty easy to find! The laundry facility at this hotel is the only reason it didn't receive a full 5 stars from me, it was lacking with a few "all-in-one" machines and as is normal in Japan, they don't dry well, which was a problem since we were on such a short time budget. They also only accepted coins, with no coin changer nearby and even vending machines a few blocks out. There might have been a better way, but being tired and only speaking English was working against me here and 3+ hours to wash and dry our clothes was hard. The staff here couldn't have been nicer or more helpful though and the hotel was updated and very clean! I would not hesitate to stay here again, would just plan my laundry out more carefully. Oh, and they stored our bags before and after check in/out for no additional fee and no hassles at all, a huge plus!
