Frankly i am worrying about the resort since there are so many negative review in the past few weeks. But overall I had a nice stay here and would recommended family with kids to come! Pro: 1. Nice pool, crazy slide, wonderful beach and water activities offered 2. Great breakfast and dinner! The food is so nice and seeming the problem of long waiting had solved 3. Free Lounge bar which offer snack and drinks is a plus! 4. Big room with plenty of space Cons: 1. Remote area 2. Room still aged even after the refurbished 3. My air con keep dropping water, called frontal to fix but problem still exist

The pictures are much better than what you actually get here. This is a no thrills low amenity tourist resort. Views are great, but you don't have to stay here to access the beach. There is no actual bar here which blows my mind because they say they have a bar. In actually they have an automatic beer dispenser and paper cups next to some kind of open wine bottles on ice ... And those are only accessable during certain hours. Rooms are mildly cool, so if you are a hot sleeper prepare to be uncomfortable.

Disclaimer: It's important to note that during my stay at the Grand Mercure in Okinawa, the hotel was undergoing renovations. Some facilities were still being constructed, which may affect the full range of services typically available. Location: The Grand Mercure is situated about an hour north of Naha Airport, placing it in a more scenic part of the island. This location not only offers tranquility away from the bustling city center but also features stunning natural landscapes. The hotel stands as the tallest building in the area, providing unobstructed views that are nothing short of breathtaking. It is adjacent to Zanpa Beach, where hotel guests benefit from direct access and discounts on beach equipment rentals. The beach mixes fine sand with rocky sections, making water shoes a recommended accessory for comfort and safety. Hotel Atmosphere: Upon entering, the Grand Mercure impresses with a grand and expansive lobby that doubles as an open lounge. This area becomes a hub of activity during the complimentary snack and drink sessions offered twice daily (from 3-6 PM and 9-11 PM), including alcoholic beverages. These sessions were popular and always created a lively atmosphere in the lounge. The front desk staff were consistently friendly and smiling, although there were times when the staffing levels were not adequate to manage the guest flow, leading to longer wait times and occasionally unanswered phones. Rooms: The rooms are modern, spacious, and kept in immaculate condition. My room offered a stunning view of the ocean and daily sunsets, which were a highlight of my stay. While the softness of the mattresses and pillows, and the occasional inadequacy of the air conditioning during the hottest part of the day, were minor drawbacks, they did not significantly detract from the overall comfort of the room. Facilities: The hotel features two operational pools—a large flower-shaped pool and a smaller paddling pool for children. We had a 3-heard old child who absolutely loved the swimming pool. It’s very child-friendly and there were many other families there enjoying the facilities. Ongoing construction includes an exciting pool slide, which promises to be a major attraction once completed. The absence of a fitness center was noted; however, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful in locating a nearby gym that offered day passes. This gym was fully equipped with all the necessary fitness equipment, and the staff even phoned ahead to inquire about fees and requirements. A suggestion for improvement would be to provide a water dispenser accessible throughout the day to help guests stay hydrated in the warm climate. Overall: Despite the ongoing renovations, my stay at the Grand Mercure in Okinawa was memorable and enjoyable. The hotel's location and amenities, coupled with its vibrant lounge offerings and excellent service, make it a commendable choice for travelers. I am eager to see the enhancements and full potential of this hotel once renovations are complete.

Such awkward layout of the hotel rooms, maybe you can’t tell from the photos but many designs look like an afterthought. Probably because it’s renovated recently and not built from the ground. But still, no excuse! For instance, no bedside table, seriously??? No bell boy to greet or help with luggage at the main entrance. Wifi doesn’t work, rooms aren’t very clean either if you look closely. No lunch is offered at all….. the body lotion literally smells like perfume and makes my skin allergic. can’t recommend this place…..

First of all, this is the first time I’ve complained on a hotel in many years of frequent traveling. First impression was poor. The receptionist was more interested in chatting with colleagues than helping us to check in. The first room we received, had a smoke-like odor in it. We complained and received a new room. Same issue here as well and the staff told us it was due to recent renovations. We received a new (3rd room) in an area of the hotel that was not renovated but the smell was the same. We received a 4th room with a tatami-style, where there was a similar smell but not as bad as the previous three. We had traveled for 20+ hours so we had no choice but to stay here for the night. We also arrived at the hotel late at night. The whole process took about 1,5 hours. We had to wait a while between each room. When we finally agreed at the last room, they said they would pick up our luggage. They used additional 30 minutes on this. If we had known, we would have picked it up ourselves, since we just wanted to shower and go to bed. We tried to check out the morning after and get a refund for the two remaining nights. This was a challenge to say the least. I was refused by the receptionist, the chief receptionist and the chief receptionist who checked with the hotel manager. After 15 minutes discussing with the hotel manager we got the refund and wasted minimum an hour on this process. We were not compensated for the trouble in any way as well. When I received the refund, I also only at first got the refund for 1 night, and had to contact the hotel again to get the agreed refund. Breakfast was the only positive experience. Good tasting and great selection. We moved to Hyatt Regency 30 minutes north and the total experience was a contrast to Grand Mercure. We wish we booked the stay at Hyatt instead.
