::We have been to Japan many times. Every time we would try a new hot spring hotel. All the past experiences were super exceptional. So I was expecting the same for this one. However, I was disappointed. Half of the staff are very nice and attentive, but some are not very nice. Because of that, we didn’t feel welcomed at this hotel. Their private onsen is very attractive, but only 45 mins per session, if you go over even like a 15 seconds, they knock on door to remind you. It’s a bit rushy for people who would want go out during the day and get enough onsen time at night. Amenities are good. They provide transits within the area. Service is def a key factor. I would not recommend this one if you want fully traditional Japanese onsen experience.

::Fantastic hotel with great services, facilities and food. The location is on the mountain side with a great view of the city. It is definitely on the pricier side but I felt it was worth to bring my family here.

::An older, but very atmospheric japanese-style hotel with the kindest and most helpful staff and cute private onsen baths. We also loved the Kaiseki dinner, which was thoughtfully prepared to great quality, and compared to Kaiseki restaurant experiences in Kyoto and Osaka to a very competitive price. Arima itslef is also worth a visit with its restaurants, cute Japanese snack street and lovely hidden away temples.

::The room was alright, dinner food quality was okay, but the restaurant service was the worst we've ever had in Japan. We arrived sharp at 7pm for dinner, and the first course has already been served at the table before we arrived at our private room. All other courses thereafter were served very quickly, as if they are about to close. TBH, I don’t know why they had to serve in such a rush, and they did not even wait for us to finish the dish before they served the next one. Given we are paying over $400 per person per night, I am not sure why this would be acceptable.

::Absolutely amazing place, we had a room with private bath in our room, but wasn't really needed as they had sufficient baths that you can book in 45 minute sessions. Tattoos are fine here as you bath in private sessions. Dining is also booked in private sessions, so if they are booked out you will need to go into town for meals, but they have a shuttle that can take you in and pick you up. We managed to get a booking for one breakfast during our stay and we were not fans of the set menu.
