::A gem of a hotel. Stayed here 5 times in the last 2 years. Yes, it's older, but given the price, I'm reviewing this based on similar business hotels in similar age that I've stayed at in my 12 trips to Japan. Please ignore the obnoxiously ignorant Western tourist who claimed the onsen was racist because they don't allow tattoos. A simple Google search could show that EVERY onsen doesn't allow tats including Dormy Inn and every other chain. Absolute facepalm at their caucasity to then try to smear this hotel and onsen. Please also ignore the negative reviews where the guest could only book a smoking room due to booking in peak cheery blossom season and then gave a bad review because of their poor planning. Of course a hotel is going to be expensive during peak season. And if you book late, you get a smoking room. It's kinda silly to give a bad review when all the elements that made the stay bad were within the context of one's own poor planning and unrealistic expectations. So, onto the reality... Rooms are comparable in size to any other Japanese hotel - same as an APA or Dormy Inn. Comfy beds with similar amenities, free toiletries in lobby, coffee, kettle in room, shower, shampoo & conditioner in room. Hotel wear (pyjamas) which are better than Dormy imo as they're made of natural fabric and more comfortable on skin. Staff are always friendly and accomodating even though their English is not as proficient as the major cities. In our latest vist in Dec 2023, one staff member, Yasuko Shinozaki speaks fluent English - she's great! Situated a 10 min walk away from Aomori train station, steps away from the fresh seafood market, and close to the main street. Also walking distance to the Nebuta Museum, local temple, good restaurants and cafes. The best part of this hotel is that it is connected to the wonderfully local Aomori Machinaka Onsen. This onsen is super local, serves the Aomori community, so learn your onsen manners before entering. Use Google! No tattoos, again, per every other local sento/ onsen in Japan. And for the love of god, please wash yourself thoroughly with soap and rinse off (between toes) before entering the onsen baths! The quick shower may work in a big tourist hotel where people are clueless, but the locals will give you ick (rightfully so) if you don't give yourself a soapy scrub before putting your day-old tourist feet into the communal water. Communcal chill out area with manga library, a sitting room, a restaurant/ bistro for post-bath meal and drinks, a barber and massage therapist. Do try the locals rehydration drink - Oropo. Pocari + Vitamin C. Delicious after sauna! Onsen water is great quality - no chlorine. Breakfast is at the Machinaka Onsen restaurant/ bistro - Japanese buffet choices, some baked good croissant/ buns, plus local Aomori choices, coffee, tea, fresh ground coffee, similar to Dormy Inn/ APA and exellent value. Despite the age of the hotel, it's clean, consistently clean (stays over 12 month period), offers wonderful warm service by staff, similar facilities & amenities as other chains, but trumps it all with an authentic local onsen community. The only place we stay when we travel to Aomori.

::Despite the very dated hotel design. The hotel is consider ok. I like the free breakfast and onsen experience. Don't expect too much then it's a fine place to stay. The room itself is japanese standard size but the bed is quite hard for me.

::Good location, comfortable room and adequate parking space. Most importantly was the free Onsen and relaxing communal space. This hotel was a bit dated and the toilet was a bit small. But these didn’t changed my positive view to this hotel.

::Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in during my countless visits to Japan. Location in a run down area near the National Road, though not too far from Aomori station. Difficult to find if you don't speak or read Japanese. The reception is on the second floor. Tiny rooms with claustrophobic bathroom. The hotel is way past it's prime time. Unfortunately, I could only get a smoking room where you had the choice between a terrible stale smell of cigarettes or the noise of the nearby National Road if you opened the window. Breakfast is plentiful and the quality is okay but served in a canteen-like room which seems to be frequented by guests of the adjacent Onsen and is terribly noisy. Staff unfriendly. The Onsen is free of charge for hotel guests but isn't really worth a visit. It can get very crowded with local people with whom it seems quite popular. To add insult to injury the room charge was outrageous for what they offer, probably due to peak season for cherry blossom viewing. Stay away if you can!

::Dated business hotel with free onsen. Compared to the prize it’s reasonable. + bed was comfortable and the room size was standard for japan + did not hear the neighbors + free drinks (water, cocoa, coffee) - air con was not working properly - bad insulation = onsen is shared with locals and always busy. Sadly no time slot exclusive for guests. Be prepared to get starred at a lot, if you are not Asian. = breakfast buffet had more choices than other business hotels, but the quality wasn’t as good
