  Before the Hitotsuse Dam was completed, there was a really clear stream, and during the summer there were many houseboats and fireworks displays. Currently, only murky water released from the dam flows through the area. Even after all this, I still don't understand why the name Saitobaru Sugiyankyo Prefectural Park remains. The water is stagnant, the forestry industry is obsolete, and the number of inn users... It must have been a beautiful valley that was once called the Arashiyama of Hyuga. (See Wikipedia: Sugiyasu Gorge) Are there still many visitors to get away from the summer and see the autumn leaves?
