::As of May 2024, it is still closed. The surrounding environment is quiet and rich in nature, which is very wonderful. Makes me look forward to it. The reason I gave it 5 stars was because I was looking forward to it and hoping it would reopen.

::The room, bath, and food are all well-balanced. The dinner was delicious, but it was a bit large and I had some left over. Personally, I like grilled rainbow trout with salt. Breakfast had so many side dishes that it was difficult to finish it all. There were many day trip bathers and the bathhouse was crowded in the evening, but it was nice to be able to take a leisurely bath after dinner.

::Absolutely loved my stay here. I'd suspect only Japanese is spoken here so prepare for that if you're not bilingual. The bath was absolutely amazing. There was a section that was like a cave with a small waterfall in it; you could listen to the water reverberate off of the walls and made for an excellent meditation/bath spot. The outdoor bath with its garden was so beautiful and peaceful, I didn't want to leave. The rooms were also very nice; it was higher quality for such a place, usually they don't keep such good care of the hotels and ryokan deep in the mountainside but it was very clean and well taken care of with all the typical services you can expect of a ryokan (bringing out the futon when you're at dinner, cleaning up when you're out for the day, etc.). The food was amazing but I only did dinner for one night and I'm glad--it must have been over 2000 calories. Meat and fish and veggies and stews and soups and appetizers and desserts. It was a lot. But everything was SO delicious it was impossible to not try to taste everything. 10/10 meal for sure. I loved my stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone else who needs a retreat to the mountains to relax and refresh their soul.

::The food at the cafeteria is quite tasty and not expensive. The tempura soba was freshly fried and delicious. The amount is not enough for growing. There are table seats and tatami mat seats, so you can dine with whoever you like. There are indoor and outdoor hot springs, and a sauna. Shampoo and body soap provided. Towels are sold at the reception, and bath towels cost 900 yen.

::Just after exiting the long tunnel from Minamimaki to Ueno Village on Prefectural Route 45, it is about 600 meters down a mountain road. The time is quiet and relaxing. Hot springs are good. Although it is spacious and has a circulation system, the hot water feels clean. The bathhouse, which takes advantage of the wonderful natural scenery, is the best.
