::The attitude of the girl at reception wasn't very friendly and in fact rather snobby and after having had so many good experiences walking Shikoku it was a bit upsetting as she was as unfriendly as you can get (and asking 100 yen for a towel after paying 70£ is just ridiculous). The double room was small but comfortable except there is no roof and it's immediately on the stairs so you could hear everyone taking and laughing downstairs (the bar is open till 10pm) and those snoring in the dorms, not recommended if you are also walking the pilgrimage and need a rest (and a welcoming place for a tired body and possible aching soul). Also while we were happy the man working there made us a good and nutritious vegetarian meal, the snobby and unwelcoming attitude of the girl at reception put us off, the opposite of all the welcoming and warm attitude we have found so far in shikoku.

::Received a very friendly welcome. The house is built in the traditional style and located in the historic district. The house and interior are stunningly beautiful. The sleeping space is nice and comfy. Would have loved to stay longer. If you're in town, you have to try the amazing pork burger at the farmer market's bakery.

::Really good hostel! The place was beautiful and well preserved, everything was clean and the room was really comfortable! Its in a great location near the historical center of the town. Recommended stay!

::The most lovely guesthouse I have stayed at in Japan. While perhaps more expensive than other dormitory-style guesthouses, it is well worth the price. The place is exquitesely preserved with both traditional and modern touches. The staff are incredibly friendly and the common area is cozy. The attached bar/cafe is also a must-try -- I enjoyed the selection of drinks. This place is situated in the best part of town and warranted a two-night stay -- this town is built for slow-paced sightseeing!

::This beautiful café was our savior, when almost all restaurants of the city where closed on a Wednesday. They have good curry, even though not very spicy. Very good craft beer, recommend the hazlenut ale. It's an old merchants building that has been restored by loving hands, such a great atmosphere. We didn't stay in the guesthouse rooms, but they look very cosy, bath area is clean. Definitely one of the best places to be in town.
