::Clean and affordable business hotel located very close to shinkansen, bus, and taxi. I Stayed here in March 2024 while visiting someone. For me, it worked out very well because I planned on doing a lot of shinkansen travel. The room rate of Y10650 delivered excellent value. I would consider staying here again. I rate this 5/5 as a 2-star hotel. POSITIVES * Front desk staff speak little/no English but they are friendly and very helpful. Check-in kiosks simplify the in/out process, and the staff are there to assist you. I had no trouble. * My room was clean and in good condition. Room layout is quite tight. Beds are firm, but I got used to them. * The bathrooms were very clean. They had a toilet/washlet and a deep soaker tub with a flex hose shower. * Breakfast buffet (included with the room) is Japanese-style, featuring salad, buns, rice, miso soup and rotationally tamago (egg), mini wieners, boiled eggs, stewed vegetables. * The shinkansen station, bus loop, and taxis are all right next to the hotel. NEGATIVES * Neither Shirakawa nor Nishigo could be called touristy. Most likely, you'll have a very good reason for staying in this area.

::The young ladies on reception gave me a warm welcome after an icy cold ride to Shirikawa. They pointed me in the direction of free hot coffee to help me warm up. Upon returning from dinner I had one interpret my Kanji to give me the name of the ramen restaurant I had dinner at. This is one of the very best Toyoko Inns I have stayed at.
