The soft feel of the tatami mats and the warmth created by the old-fashioned wooden pillars and beams are comforting.The flames in the hearth at the entrance provide a slight warmth, and the pillars and ceiling are stained black with smoke, giving a sense of a long history.   Delicious soba in an old thatched roof house from the Edo period. I didn’t know buildings like this existed in Tokyo. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Mitake area. Prepare to wait a bit for lunch though, 30 mins to 1 hour. The outside of the house and gardens are beautiful, though.
