::Had a very good service experience and English support was available.

::Unlike some reviews, my experience was perfect. The lady at reception on the 8th floor was smiling from the start. She seemed willing to speak in English but she spoke very friendly Japanese since I started that way. She was really helpful and helped me with an inquiry that was very unlikely to succeed in the first place due to my own situation. She got to the bottom of it with very limited information from me and helped me through some steps above what she might have been required to do. Thank you.

::Returning to Japan and Shinsei after a brief hiatus, having been a customer and account holder of 4 years, it was a bitter disappointment, bordering on a slap in the face, when I received a terrible welcome back and the exact opposite of what good service would be from the front desk staff - being asked to come back on another day, which means making the long trip to Nihombashi again, just because the start date of my employment was a couple of days later; the average worker generally opens his bank account a week ahead, and in my case it's a former patron returning to open a new account and in possession of a certificate of employment and all due documents. When asked about the reason, I was served with the infamously 'Japanese-Keigo-polite' yet blatantly unprofessional response of "It's the rule", with no effort to justify or elaborate, veiled with a feigned smile. I had no hesitation to open a bank account on the same day with SMBC - who despite their lack of English language proficiency delivered a service light years ahead of what Shinsei pretends to provide now.

::No foreigner friendly policies. Since I hold a savings acc with them, I went to enquire about credit card. They asked if I understand Japanese and its kanjis. Upon saying no, they said I cannot apply for it. How does laguage is a barrier if I am well employed and able to manage my finances properly? I will move my account somewhere else and do not ever recommend this bank which I was doing until now. Remember Nokia was once a big brand...

::I don't usually do reviews about a place and usually people just review to say bad things. Despite the frustrations I had with my account over the phone, I decided to go to head office to resolve the issue. I spoke to the woman and she supported and assisted me throughout in English. The staff there were very helpful and were able to resolve my issue that I had over the phone. I'm very happy this was resolved and thanks to the staffs support especially to woman who served me.
