I stayed with my family♨️ At first glance, the exterior looks old, but the new building was beautiful, and above all, the open-air bath and food were really good♪ The pot in the room was old and the parking lot was small, but overall it was good. I have been to the hot spring three times♪

Part 1,933 of a tour of long-established establishments: A long-established inn founded around 1870. I ordered Master's recommended coffee for 600 yen and amber pudding. A hot spring inn that used to be an inn. There is also a simple cafe attached. The master's commitment is amazing! Some coffees cost 3,000 yen per cup. The pudding is also handmade over several days after preparation, so it's finely textured and delicious! Goes well with coffee. The shop owner is a picky eater who just can't stop. Coffee after a hot spring is also good. No parking lot Cashless compatible

It was difficult to find the parking lot, so he guided us, but my husband managed to park the car on a narrow road that was just barely wide enough for the car, but I would have scraped the car. Dinner was very delicious. I'm satisfied except for the staples on the sashimi plate. I'm glad I noticed it before I put it in my mouth. At breakfast, perhaps because there were many young customers, the dumplings, chicken wings, fried food plates, and salmon seemed to be fried in a frying pan with plenty of oil. I was looking forward to the breakfast at the inn, but I was disappointed.

From the beginning, I wanted to feel the quiet, old-time atmosphere, so I searched without looking for a clean hotel. As the building is old, you can't expect perfect cleanliness. You can stay there as if you were visiting your grandmother's house. The open-air bath can be used when it is empty. Kaikase is the best. I think you can enjoy it more quietly and privately on weekdays.

If you're looking to book a traditional style inn in Japan, this one is very nice! They have a male onsen, female onsen, and 2 different family onsens (lockable door, unisex). It was nice that you have the options of a gender specific onsen as well as family onsens, especially since my room did not come with a bath or shower, so you must rely on the shower in the onsen facilities to clean yourself. Cool room with "go" game board, traditional tatami, low tables, the whole shebang. We did not go for the dinner. It looked good, was 4000 yen per person though. There are 2 reasons it recieved 3 stars instead of 5 from me. First reason: I accidentally let the traditional slippers fall onto the stone floor near the front entrance. One of the hosts saw it happen, and even though it was obviously a total mistake, she made a MASSIVE deal of it. I get that it's very important in Japanese culture, but it was clearly a mistake. Take 30 seconds and sanitize the stupid things if it's that important. Second reason: As I checked out, the host handed me a paper in all Japanese about the bathing tax in Beppu... but my Agoda booking already included $16 CAD worth of bathing tax... Maybe there was a tax increase, maybe not, but it left a sour taste in my mouth. If you are going to be ULTRA STRICT about your slipper policy, then maybe you should also be ULTRA STRICT about updating your fee schedules online. It never feels good to be slapped with hidden costs at checkout time (or ever for that matter)
