::It is located next to the conventional line entrance, not the Shinkansen side entrance of Karuizawa Station. The signboard for Kamameshi looks so big that you might miss it if you look at it for just a moment, but if you look closely, you'll see a small noren for standing soba udon. This time, the restaurant is about to close, so soba and tempura are out of stock. I ordered wild vegetable udon for 550 yen, and it was delicious, and the food around Karuizawa is priced at Karuizawa prices, so it's easy on your wallet. It's quite a hidden gem, so be sure to check it out.

::during my 11 day trip to Japan in December 2016, this has to be the best food i've eaten. Simple, affordable and tastes good. Wish i could come here with someone special.

::The take out "bento" is so cool! It's a authentic Japanese culture to have bento on shinkansen. And the little pot-liked container is lovely. The way they cook the rice is just perfect. You must take the pot home as a souvenir. However, you might find the bento isn't enjoyable if you don't like traditional Japanese marinated veggies.
