The furniture in our room was probably last updated in the 80’s. Everything was old and shabby. The walls in the room had stains and the bathroom was rusted and mouldy in places. The pillows were small and not very comfortable as they smash down to almost 2 inches only. The Onsen, was the saving grace for this hotel. It was nice and clean. The buffet dinner was actually decent. But because this place is a rest stop for all the tour buses, it is a frantic during the dinner buffet. I would not stay here again unless they update all of the rooms.

The hotel is on the old side and not the cleanest. Onsen is old too and probably could do with some refurbishing. The buffet is passable. The hotel takes a lot of tour groups so it’s always busy, they are professional but probably don’t have a lot of time to serve each group of customers. Overall not a passable experience but not fantastic

Food: Best to check your reservation to see which restaurant is included in the half board. The hotel has several different levels of dinner service. We were offered a private room and served in the inanKur restaurant which was SUPERB in quality and service. A blend of traditional Japanese with Continental dishes served in kaiseki manner. Room: A ten tatami mat sleeping area plus a window side sitting area plus bathtub/WC provides a comfortable experience. we asked the staff to double layer the futon pads for additional sleeping comfort. ETC: the three large bathing areas are nice, each with a different character. When we were there for two weeknights, they were no large groups and no noise or rude behavior were ever experienced. The only issue for us which is not the hotel issue is that if you do not have a car, your options of touring this area are limited. But if you appreciate nature and do not look for entertainment or touristy attractions, this is a good place to visit.

LOCATION: We hired a car and drove to the hotel as it is a remote location. There was plenty of parking space for us to park the car. It is on a slight slope, so if you needed to go to the local convenient store, you either had to drive or walk up a slope. SERVICE/FACILITIES: There are 3 different public onsens within the hotel, with a mixture of indoor and outdoor including a sauna room as well. I decided to go late in the night to avoid any crowds. Breakfast and dinner was included (not many other options near by) which was a buffet and had a good amount of options. The only thing to be aware of is that there are certain times where there will be tour groups dining, and it gets crowded and the tour groups behaved in a way that impacted the whole dining experience. OTHER FACILITES: cafe/bakery, kids room, laundry room, souvenir shop, and toy capsules machines. During our stay, they had entertainment which showed us traditional Hokkaido dance. We also joined the bingo night which was really fun. ROOM: Room was really spacious and the decor is traditional style Japanese. We did notice it's slightly dated in such as the radio (which is also a cassette player), TV and also the room key is an actual Key (most places are now a room card). PRICE: is on the higher end given the space you get in the room and because it's in a remote location.

Location was amazing, situated in the midst of a canyon. View was amazing as sounkyo festival was just happening right outside of the window. We enjoyed the fireworks from our room . Half-board kaiseki was absolutely amazing. Good planning on the menu as it was crafted with different surprise and theme on a different night. Good selections of Onsen. Property price is considered value-for-money and well worth every single cent .
