  Absolutely lovely and amazing ryokan, traditional but also comfortable. It's close to Iseshi station. It's an old structure, also with an inner japanese garden, which gives it a very magical atmosphere. And the host is very welcoming. I recommend it if you want to stay a few days in Ise

  It was very comfortable for a single person. However, it is not suitable for families with children. This is because this hotel is very old. The stairs are steep and the floor makes noise. It can be difficult for your child to stay quiet. Still, the experience of staying in an old and quaint Japanese house was wonderful. I think the view of the courtyard from the second floor in the morning is a view where you can experience the culture of another country.

  The room could not isolate the sound, therefore would be a bit noise if people talking or walk around. No meal. Services were all, staff were nice. The building itself is old style but clean.

  I’m giving it 4.5 star, because of the location. It is located 10 min walk away from Iseshi train station which is not a problem if you have few luggages. I had 1 big and 1 small, lugging around the two luggages was quite painful. The ryokan is approximately 90 years old. It is old, charming and really clean. There is an interesting water well “chimney” which is just wonderful. The two housekeepers did a marvelous job at upcoming the place. The rooms are not shared but the bathrooms are shared. There were 2 private onsen rooms, 1 shower room, 2 male and females toilets. It could get a little hectic when rushing out in the morning, just make sure to ask the housekeeper for anything you need. We requested him to book us taxis in the morning for both days we stayed there and the taxis came on time. It also gets a little disturbing at night so they provide ear muffs, which I tried on but it was quite uncomfortable so I recommended getting ear plugs yourselves. Overall, my first experience staying at a ryokan was a wonderful one with Hoshidekan!

  Hoshidenkan is a lovely little building that is about 90 years old. The staff is friendly and the rooms are quaint, complete with mini fridge, tv and aircon unit. The bathing room is a pretty good family bath too. There is a lounge area, free WiFi, a computer you can use and a Japanese garden in the middle. It's not too far from either train stations and there are some decent places to eat around too. Downsides are the futons weren't comfortable (pretty thin/hard), there were a few annoying mosquitos buzzing around at night every night in the room that were hard to get rid of, and the upstairs men's bathroom is so small that there wasn't enough room for my knees.
