Another favorite Japanese sweets shop in Kyoto. I can't forget the taste of freshly made Mame Daifuku that I had before...I've been a fan of Heianden ever since. It wasn't freshly made that day, but I had takeout. Also, Gyuhi chose watermelon flavor among the Heian mochi, Fu mochi, and Wakaayu. I don't really like young sweetfish, but this one is thin and light, and the fluttering tail fin (or anal fin?) is quite stylish. The watermelon flavor was fresh and delicious. Heian mochi is made with strained bean paste, so the outside and inside of the rice cake are not just sprinkled with flour, but have two perfect layers. The texture is three-layered once you add the bean paste. The fumochi is light and the aroma of mugwort is irresistible. This is also strained bean paste I think even simple things are of a high standard. Warabi mochi was sold out Demachiyanagi is famous for its mamemochi, but I always end up buying it at Heianden. The location is easy to get to as it is in front of Okazaki's two art museums and Heian Shrine. Eat-in also has a table that looks like a private room, so I think you can probably use it if it's empty. I had my first Mame Daifuku at the store. Is it because I am correcting my memory or my taste has changed? There may be no bean daifuku that exceeds the taste at that time. At Higashiyama Station on the subway, people are spread out as to whether they are going south (from Shirakawabashi to Chion-in Temple and Maruyama Park/Yasaka Shrine) or north (Heian Shrine, two museums, a library, and Okazaki/Lake Biwa Canal).

Revisited in June 2024. I wanted to go to a cafe, but since it started at noon, I gave up. Instead, we procured the signature product Awata-yaki and seasonal ayu and enjoyed them deliciously. I'm always happy to receive souvenirs from you. I went in without knowing it, and was surprised to find that I had made the right decision. After all, it's Awata-yaki. The combination of soy sauce and red bean paste is exquisite. The yuzu-filled Heianden, which bears the restaurant's name, also has an elegant taste. As for the fresh sweets, we tried Domyoji's Sakura Mochi, Yomo Kusa Mochi, and Mame Daifuku, all of which were mildly sweet and delicious. I was able to learn about a traditional shop and will use it for future Kyoto souvenirs.

As the name of the store suggests, it is located near Heian Shrine. There were so many types of Japanese sweets that I was confused, but I ended up buying dorayaki called Awata-yaki and Chion. I ate them after I got home and they were both super delicious! Awata-yaki is a fragrant grilled mochi with a soy sauce flavor on the outside and a sweet bean paste inside. It has a very good balance of sweet and salty. Chion is also fluffy and delicious with elegantly sweet red bean paste. The other Japanese sweets are also very elegant, and there are many Japanese sweets with place names and famous places such as Incline, Canal Arch, and Otenmon.I would like to buy these next time. The staff at the store were also very kind.

I ate in for the first time at a Japanese sweets shop that I always go to for takeout. We ate freshly made warabi mochi and fresh sweets in a small but calm shop. The warabi mochi is still warm, and the wasanbon and brown sugar syrup are separated, so you can add sweetness little by little and enjoy changing the taste. Since I don't like Kuromitsu, I had Warabi Mochi on its own at first, and then added a little Wasanbon to it. It was very elegant and delicious. The inside of the restaurant is small, so it's smart to eat quickly and then offer your seat to the next person.
