::We slept really good on comfortable futons. The room was spacious, the private onsen was really enjoyable. We liked the variety of dishes for the breakfast. The decor of the hotel is beauiful as well. Sadly, the staff wasn't very welcoming or smiling.

::Gorgeous ryokan in the yamanaka onsen district. Beautiful onsens, and we really enjoyed the traditional Japanese style of the rooms and Japanese breakfast buffet. Don't miss the drum performance!

::Dinner and breakfast is at an extra cost of ¥8800 per person. Booking required. I don’t recommend it. The food wasn’t very good. Breakfast was ok, buffet with good options. Public Onsen is good. Private Onsen is good, at an extra price ¥2200. Reservation required. Futon beds are set up for you while you have dinner.

::We spent 3 days and 2 nights here at Hatori. It is probably amonst the best ryokan i've ever stayed in Japan in terms of services. The room is very clean with 2 large public baths. The staffs are also very friendly, especially Nemoto-san who is very dedicated in providing services to us. Thank you very much Nemoto-san, and i definitely recommend this place for all travelers who are planning to stay at Yamashiro-onsen.

::A very old and traditional ryokan. We stayed for 1 night with dinner and breakfast. Location: literally middle of nowhere. hard to access anything and we didnt really leave the hotel at all during our stay. Rooms: VERY old. The bathroom (bath bit) was digusting as it was the type I hated with a lot of small tiles. Didnt need to use it luckily as we bathed in the onsen bit. The toilet was normal. The room itself was quite large but very old. We went for the sleeping on the floor option where they set up your matresses whilst you have dinner. The matresses were ok. Amneties: toothbrush, cotton pads are provided in the bathroom. You can also get hair ties, hair brushes, shavers etc in the onsen changing room. Water, tea and all neccassary clothing are provided in each room. No usb charging socket, no water machines throughout hotel and no microwaves or ice machines. Food: for dinner, it was a kaiseki style meal. You get to pick between 2 time slots which were 6pm or 7pm i believe. The food was actually quite bad. The service too. The staff felt really new and amateur. She had difficulties pronouncing the english names of the food but that was fine, I didn't expect them to be good at english but she just seemed really clumsy when serving us. For breakfast, it was a buffet style with a decent amount of options. When we arrived at the train station, they had scheduled shuttle buses that will come and pick you up to takr you to the hotel which is like a 10-20 minute drive. As soon as you hand them your luggagr when entering the shuttle bus, you basically dont need to touch them until youve entered the hotel (they bring it to the reception for you to collect). Check in was fine but the staff who served us spoke limited english. After checking in, they bring you to the lounge to take a seat, have some tea and sweets before someone comes and asks you for your yukata size and colour preference before taking you to your room and briefly explaining the facilities of the ryokan. As the rooms are tatami and traditional style, you remove your shoes at the entrance. Special socks are provided in each room and the staff brings you your yukatas. Outdoor slippers are provided for each guest. In each room, you also get a small plastic drawstring bag which I assumed was for your personal belongings when going to the onsen, as well as a small face towel. Each face towel is a different colour so you wont get it mixed up. Between 4pm to 6pm , they serve you milk ice cream in the lounge but you are only allowed 1 scoop. I asked if I could have another and they said only 1 per guest. Not sure why they were so stingy 🤷🏻♀️. Onsen: Bath towels are provided in each room and you need to bring them with you when going to the onsen as they dont give you any there. Yes the instruction sheet says you dont but you do! The onsen was quite nice. We went to both the 2nd and 1st floor and tried both sides of the 1st floor onsen (men and women baths exchange in the morning). The 2nd floor baths felt very plain and it mightve been plain water? The 1st floor had better baths. Each other had a indoor and outdoor bath. Amneties include hair brush, bobbles, face wash, face toner, face cream etc. Water is provided in changing rooms. No other beverages provided. Was it a good experience? kind of. nice to try. Would I come back? probably not. the old feeling was just not me.
