::Awesome hotel right down town and 15 minute walk from the train station. It’s a small room but you know this by booking the Apa chain. Front desk staff are so nice

::I stayed at APA Hotel Aomori Ekihigashi for three nights and my stay waa nice. The hotel is fine, is very well-located. It is about a 5 minute walk from Aomori station, and some of the main attractions are very close (the products center, A-factory, and the Nebuta museum are all about 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel). The staff is very polite too. However, the first day that I came in the hotel was reeking of cigarette smell. Even my room, which was on a non-smoking floor was full of cigarette smell. The problem didn't occur on the same day, and slightly on the third. I kept opening my window everytime I step out for air circulation. The rooms are fine. Mine was slightly smaller than other rooms I had in Japan but it was still a nice room with everything you may want to use (kettle, refrigerator, large tv).

::Bad experience from the point of check-in. Despite the fact that foreign nationals who reside in Japan have no legal duty to provide residence card or other ID while staying in a hotel, the front receptionist insisted that I give him my residence card midway through the check-in process (note, this was AFTER booking a reservation). A hotel receptionist is not a police officer or border patrol agent, etc., so I found this request suspicious. Since my residence card contains personal information, and as a foreigner living in Japan I am not legally obligated to show any ID just to stay in a hotel in Japan, I explained to the receptionist that I live in Japan. But he seemed resistant, so, thinking he was oblivious to laws regarding foreign residents and ID, I reminded him that foreign nationals with an address in Japan are not legally required to show any form of ID to stay in the hotel. Despite my words, the receptionist remained insistent and even threatened to deny my stay. In fact, the residence card includes even more personal info than a MyNumber card. Naturally I was suspicious of such a person who has zero legal obligation to view my personal information. However, based on the receptionist’s arrogant attitude and the hassle of possibly being denied my reserved hotel room, I gave in and handed over my residence card. I still do not understand what parts the receptionist checked on my ID card, but he could see that I legally live and work in Japan and that my ID was real. I strongly urge the hotel management to train their staff and become familiar with their legal obligations regarding foreign residents. And also to have better respect in the handling of customers’ personal information. Thankfully the rest of my stay in Aomori was wonderful, just the customer service of this hotel gave me a bad memory.

::The location of this hotel is perfect! I went here during the Neputa festival and its walking distance to the festival venue, Nebuta Rasse Land, Neputa museum and Shin Aomori station. The rooms are APA standard so clean and equipped with everything you need. I like having the outlets and light switch on the bed headboard. Cons: the price hike on hotels during festival season but that's to be expected. Also, I had to book a smoking room because nothing else was available but it was bearable as a non-smoker. Something to note: There are a couple steps to get into the hotel with no ramp, so something think about for accessibility. Overall I recommend this place!

::I expectd Apa hotels are good, except the staff are polite, all other things makes me disappointed. The bed is slanted and I can‘t sleep. Bathroom is dark and small. During rest time, they call me and disturb me, only for housekeeping, thats inhumane. Poor cleanliness, non-smoking room has cigarette smell. But the most inhumane thing is the tv automatically turns on, just for reminding me to check out, I thought there was a ghost in the hotel, so scary. Also there are multiple steps at the entrance, so inconvenient to carry luggage. I will never come back to this hotel. If you are looking for hotel, plzzzzzzzzzzzzz go to another one, or you will regret.
