::TL;DR - sub-standard room maintenance, bad dining experience. The good part: the lobby looks excellent and the stuff was very helpful. the bathroom was clean as expected. However, the room was dusty enough to cause allergic response with both me, my wife and my brother and his wife which were staying in the next room. The room looked like something from a sixties movie, with a wooden radio console between the beds. there was also dust on the desk and the coffee table. On the second night there we turned on the ionizer unit which improved the air quality, but it stopped working after a while. It had some red light saying "water" - I'd expect this to be part of the maintenance of the room. The matress was rather thin and very soft, like it was used way beyond the replacement time. As for dining: dinner cost was nearly 6K yen per person. For this we got a buffet which was hardly okay, and lots of the items were missing and took a long time to be restocked. We did get a glass of wine on the house which was nice, but compared to other hotels we've stayed in on our Japan trip, it was disappointing. This was Sunday evening so there were very few restaurants open in the town, otherwise we'd go someplace else. Breakfast was included, and I wasn't paying for the stay so I can't say if it's expensive or not. The same issue with small variety and missing items. On our second day there desert was just cut apples and pineapples. The area around the hotel is also bad-looking, almost a slum. Everything seems to be crying "fix me!". The only nice place in the near neighbourhood is the Aomori Peace Park, about 500 meters to the south, but it also looks like it has seen better days. The beach to the north is closed port property. The river to the east doesn't have any proper boardwalk, just neglected streets. Very humdrum and ugly.

::The hotel is pretty Westernized if that what you're looking for. It's really nice, comfortable environment and had excellent service.
